It seems no one has mentioned layoffs in the First Friday Slack channel. People usually say or inquire about it. Only the sycophants were sending messages, it seems.
what happened

Concerning new job posted - AI Engineer for FP&A
A new job has been posted, they are looking to hire someone to develop AI to take processes, procedures, analysis, etc out of the hands of current workers and into the bowels of AI. The worst part is that the job description includes making the AI in... — read more
Any intel on possible School layoffs?
Does anyone have intel on whether there will be layoffs in the School group in the near future?
Where did everyone go?
Any ideas on where everyone went? What companies are you all at now and can you help any remaining Cengager's get out or catch the fall?
To lurking ET and Apollo members
IMHO, this is the worst configuration of the ET we’ve had in many years. This is how it appears to me. CEO with no vision, no spine, talks out of both sides of his mouth, obsessed with status and wealth, ensures the worst of the worst get ahead and... — read more
One thing is for sure...
IPS still has a job. I can't imagine anyone else coming up with the announcements we've been receiving.
How many layoffs?
Does anyone have a rough idea of how many people were just laid off?
How long do we think this new model will last?
Seems to be no rhyme or reason for who was placed where and the decisions that were made. What the Fu*k?
Apollo: How long will you let the clowns run the circus?
What reorg has accomplished the stated goals beyond short terms savings from firing people eroded when they had to hire the people back to run the business? What big, disruptive strategy initiatives have actually been delivered beyond some... — read more
HR Violations by Mgrs/VPs
Outside of now being a toxic place to work, has anyone come across a mgr or VP that should be reported to HR?
What is the severance package at Cengage?
With the coming layoffs can we share what severance package is offered? Do you keep health insurance? What happens to accumulated vacation? Thanks!
It’s the end of times
Cengage is falling apart. Let the CenForce live on in all the former employees.
The ship has sunk. The captains are on the life boats.
Let me start with that all of the below are my opinions based on very close up observations of the people I'm commenting on and that I won't refer to anyone by name below the ET Level. Cengage is only about optics at this point and I wouldn't be... — read more
Exciting Announcements a Welcome Ray of Sunshine Ahead of Midterms
Greetings, The big downside to this will be the collaboration and change that is effected by having a modern hip workspace, where an executive can chat with an intern and brainstorm, and where meetings take place without borders, so that resources... — read more

We are Cengage
MH: "We are evolving our corporate brand from Cengage Group to Cengage"
Company-wide training
I’ve been at this company long enough to know when there is a flurry of “wellness”, “coping with change” and “making your debt work for you” optional training sessions, that many more redundancies are coming. It’s the cynicism behind this that really... — read more

ANZ content bloodbath
So we here in the colonies have lost pretty much our entire schools publishing and content team. The rationale is that global content can be mediated to local curriculum requirements. This is patently untrue. The ANZ market for secondary school... — read more

How we got to now
I see posts on here all the time lamenting PE ownership, made without any understanding of how we got to this point, and how this goes all the way back to asinine decisions pre-bankruptcy in 2013. I’ve decided to play Cengage historian and lay some... — read more

Cengage Monthly Town Hall holds canceled for Nov, Dec, and thru July 2027
Uh-oh! It's probably the EC figuring out a new time for meetings, but what do any of us learn at these? Rah rah b.s. and lies.
Cengage has become the joke of the industry
Cengage has gone so far down hill in my 15 years with the company. I used to feel like they actually cared about their employees. I am no longer proud to work here. Why are we not paying a livable wage? Why are we expecting so much out of people who... — read more
Layoffs (10-31-25)
I heard engineering is going through more cuts. Some staff were quietly let go this week and their last day is tomorrow. They were replaced with off-site contractors. Anyone hear about this or other cuts in the organization?
What happened to the CIO/CTO?
I liked JC, he obviously got replaced for someone cheaper. Was there some other story there?
Muppet fire drill
Vertical integration of international teams has created chaos, no one knows who is responsible for anything.

Run, fellow Cengagers! Roles outside of Cengage exist, at much better pay, and a clear direction for serving students. Cengage is now an embarrassment in the industry.
