Anyone impacted by Dec 2025 layoffs still waiting to hear from HR? This is getting ridiculous at this point. No official notice if layoff (just the verbal convo with manager) - no severance notice, no box for laptop.

Manager Guidance for Strategic Realignment Discussions
Following are brief recommendations on how Managers may approach Strategic Realignment discussions with associates:
- Opening Remarks (Smile, but not too much)
- “Thank you all for joining today’s discussion about our exciting next phase.”
- “This initiative is part of our commitment to agility, efficiency, and other words that sound positive but mean ‘change is coming.’”
- “I want to reassure you that this is not a layoff. It is a realignment. The difference is mostly semantic, but Legal insists we say it.”
Key Messages to Deliver (Without Laughing)
A. “We are evolving as an organization.”
This means:
We are eliminating roles, but we’re calling it evolution so it sounds like nature’s fault.
B. “We are aligning talent with business needs.”
This means:
Some of you are no longer aligned with the business.
Or the business is no longer aligned with you.
Either way, alignment is ending.
C. “We are optimizing our global footprint.”
This means:
Your job is moving to a place where the company pays people in gratitude and snacks.
D. “We are committed to transparency.”
This means:
We will tell you everything we can, except the things we can’t, which are most things. How to Answer Employee Questions (Without Actually Answering)
Q: “Is my job safe?”
A: “Great question. What I can say is that every role is being evaluated for future alignment.”
(Translation: No.)
Q: “Why did my performance rating drop?”
A: “We’re using a new calibration model to ensure fairness and consistency.”
(Translation: We needed numbers.)
Q: “Why didn’t we issue a WARN notice?”
A: “We are fully compliant with all regulations and are executing changes in a phased, thoughtful manner.”
(Translation: We sliced the layoffs into tiny pieces like a corporate ninja.)
Q: “Why is my role moving to Pune?”
A: “We’re leveraging global centers of excellence to maximize efficiency.”
(Translation: Labor arbitrage.)
Q: “Why do I have to return to the office when my team is remote?”
A: “RTO strengthens collaboration and culture.”
(Translation: Attrition tool.)Tone Guidance (HR Requires This Section)
- Be empathetic, but not so empathetic that employees think you can help them.
- Be supportive, but not so supportive that employees think you know what’s going on.
- Be confident, but not so confident that employees think you’re safe either.
- Avoid humor, unless it’s the unintentional kind created by corporate jargon.
- Phrases You Must Use (Even If They Make No Sense)
- “Future‑ready workforce”
- “Talent optimization”
- “Cross‑functional agility”
- “Global alignment”
- “Strategic redeployment”
- “Enhanced operational cadence”
- “Employee‑centric transition pathways”
- “Right‑sizing for long‑term success”
(Note: Do not use the word “layoff.” HR will appear behind you like a ghost.)
- Phrases You Must Avoid (At All Costs)
- “Layoff”
- “Firing”
- “Job elimination”
- “Cost‑cutting”
- “Offshoring”
- “WARN Act”
- “Unemployment insurance”
- “My badge didn’t work this morning either”
- Closing Script (Read Slowly, With Forced Optimism)
- “I want to thank each of you for your continued dedication during this exciting period of transformation.”
- “We are confident that this realignment will position us for long‑term success.”
- “Please check Workday for updates to your role, location, reporting structure, job title, and employment status.”
- “If you have questions, please reach out to HR. They have been fully briefed on how to not answer them.”
- Manager Reminder
If anyone asks you a question you don’t know how to answer, simply say:
“We’re still finalizing details.”
This phrase is legally safe, emotionally neutral, and universally applicable.
Layoffs starting tomorrow
Heads up everyone. It’s happening starting tomorrow. If you see communication to get as much work done before end of sprint then be prepared for RIF right after.
Why Dan is not taking questions from live webcast?
This is the least he can do .. Even Hans used to take questions or redirect to someone..
Not interested in one way monologue on AI
Hub and spoke model
Can someone explain to me what the he-l two hubs is supposed to mean? Is this some sort of wagon wheel analogy? WTF is he talking about when he says this?
AIP
Still no news of AIP payout quantum? Whats taking them so long to share with the employees?? Hmm.
Unemployment in MA is stuck
They are waiting for employer verification info. Haven't been issued a single payment and don't see any VZ contact info in the package regarding a contact for this specific issue. I've emailed VZ HR several times without response. Anybody else running into this or have a different contact? Monday I'll start making calls. Not desperate here but it would be nice to be getting the $$$ back from the system I've paid into for decades.
Phone shut off
Anyone else who was laid off on 12/19 get their cell phone shut off? I tried calling 800-922-0204 and it referred me to the VZ internal website that I can no longer access
Zip codes
When will they provide an updated list of commutable zip codes?
Another round of layoffs
Had a 1:1 with my manager and was given a heads-up about another round of layoffs.
Money coming doesn't look very good, so Intel has to do more with less.
My manager doesn't know many details except that it's coming. Too low in the chain to be privileged with more details.
2026 comp
Anyone had comp conversations already?
Why not a single email from Deanne K? Why bonus is a bit later this year? And when is the stock grant?
Global & national context
I thought Dan talking about global and national madness before getting to VZ was quite clever. Puts things in context. VZ madness didn’t feel too bad and kinda expected after hearing all that.
Little manipulative but I guess visionaries have to be little manipulative too
You are the CEO of the company and can't talk for 5 more minutes?
Spend 30 minutes on AI, but you "have 5 minutes to get through 8 things". You literally just acted like running out of time is a valid excuse to not share the "Dan Plan". What a joke.
We MUST Speak Their Language
HR and the higher-ups simply don't understand where we are coming from. No more speaking from emotion. We HAVE to speak in buzz words and LEGAL TERMS.
Town hall comments here!
Let's talk about how "we are in the best position this company has ever been in"
How are they notifying people?
How are they notifying people? Is it an Outlook calendar invite? Who is doing the axing? What do they say during the call or the meeting?
February 12th bombshell
Nobody’s talking about the February 12th announcement in Ram’s letter. Very cryptic.
What is it?
300mm Town Hall was Wild
Does Brian think we're stupid?
Just watched our CFO speak, and uhh…
Guys? I’m worried our leaders might be stupid.
Something feels already decided
Serious question: does anyone else feel like we’re past the ‘planning’ phase and already in the ‘waiting for the shoe to drop’ phase?
Big leadership announcements, but no full org charts below first line, no clear direction, and oddly few real comms.
Feels familiar.
HR
HR posting fluff on layoff.con
STIP Date / Comms
Has anyone been told their STIP payment or know the date/timeframe?
This feels like a customer service job
i walk in, log into MS Teams, and talk to people who are halfway across the world. i don’t even know what they look like, and most of them are contractors
No word on pulse survey
Interesting that it has not been rolled out yet and no one is able to give date for release
Why is nobody mentioning these layoffs?
I could barely find any news on it, and I looked, trust me.
Lay offs communications
For those let go, are this layoffs being done during the 1.1 meetings?
Still waiting for new work id
Does anyone know what the he-l is taking the company so long to issue the new picture ids, that they demanded back in October that we needed to do it or face discipline. No1 knows where or when they r getting sent out. Once again rush rush rush with this company n the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing.
HR
Does the head of HR still do that thing where she dodges hard questions about layoffs?
Open Mic today
I had a conflict and missed the Open Mic, I assumed they would send out a recoding but after that last email it seems likely they will not. Can anyone share what was spoken about? Are there more changes coming?
Cat and Mouse games
Oracle is known for having too many layers of management. D and his close circle handle all the big meetings, while everyone else only gets small pieces of the work. This keeps the rest of the team from seeing the full plan. If Oracle fixed this and shared more information, the company would be much better off.
Need to get more Directors off-boarded or shuffled from their meeting favorites.
Anyone let go in december get severence offer yet?
Was let go in early December, told I would get an offer the start of January but after calling HR I was told I was still an employee for Jan and would get the offer mid to late Jan but have still not received any email from them and doubt Ill be getting one tomorrow..Anyone in a similar boat get any new info? Thanks.
Email not received
Why did all FTE not get yesterday’s email? Multiple on my team had no idea what the lot of us were talking about. Not that it wasn’t just a pathetic excuse for “transparency”.
Word Salad Connect
Quick translation: No you won't get more people; yes you will get blamed for ELT decisions; we don't care about your burnout.
SKO and CEO
Some of us were not invited to the party in Vegas. How goes SKO and what about the CEO msg??
Why is my 2-up's English so bad?
I get the guy is a bank-hopping (literally his sales pitch in his first meeting) likely H1-b, but his use of the English language is rather terrible. He routinely spouts non-sequiturs that diminish what he is saying, but in today's autocorrect-tuned world, nobody catches it. This guy is being paid a bunch of money to axe a bunch of US jobs, and the guy can barely utter competent sentences in the target audience's language.
The guy he replaced was significantly more capable as both an idea man, and a communicator. This ship is sinking fast.
Uncertainty is unbearable
Between problematic bosses and the constant fear of job cuts, coming to work has become a source of genuine dread for me. I've noticed that rumors change daily, and it doesn't help there's no clear communication to settle anyone's nerves. My team is paralyzed, we're all afraid to make a wrong move. The stress is now affecting my sleep and my ability to concentrate on anything else. I'm rapidly approaching my limit for coping with this sustained uncertainty.
CEO huddle
Pretty clear Bill only cares about share price.
He gets a question about ICE and he just waffles and rambles about how we need to be calm.
He gets a question about culture and he barfs out a word salad about safety.
Anyone able to share email from Kari?
It was said that all employees received it but I am a contractor and haven’t received anything. It’s probably safe to assume we’re first on the chopping block when it comes to JE but it’s not like we’d be notified of it.
Still no convo
Since it’s Thursday, I guess my manager is just fully committed to avoiding me about my merit/bonus conversation.
