How many of you found jobs after BNY? How long did it take? What roles?

I had to sacrifice two members of my team in OI, and I am absolutely disgusted by it. They did nothing wrong, and if I hadn’t submitted names, my manager would have.

I send out applications every few months just to keep my options open. For a while it’s been total silence, but this last round actually got replies. I’m not jumping at anything, but it’s still better than what I’ve seen all year, if not longer. If anyone’s been discouraged, maybe try again now.

It is so heartbreaking reading these comments when is the next layoff, are we next?...this is honestly no way to live. Instead of being under the golden handcuffs...step outside your comfort zone and look for an alternative job! This is no way to live

A lot seems to be happening, but there’s still no clear picture of how bad it’s going to get or who’s most at risk. HP feels completely directionless, and while I wouldn’t mind leaving or even being let go, the job market, especially for us, is awful right now. So yeah, I’m worried. The money has to come from somewhere.

I survived this round, but also doubled down on looking for another job. The whole thing has been a harrowing experience. And why on earth do companies post so many fake openings? From where I’m standing, it feels like they’re trying to make our lives even more miserable than they already are. I’m sure there’s some calculated, not-so-great reason behind it.

Even when I get interviews, every conversation feels mechanical. Companies are cautious, hiring managers seem stretched thin, and nobody promises stability. It feels like the whole market shifted into survival mode and all of us are stuck in it. I feel so bad for those who have to go through the whole process without having a job.

Over 100 applications sent out, literally 0 responses. Is this normal these days and I just have to stick with it or am I doing something really wrong?

Just hoping to hear someone else’s “light at the end of the tunnel”.

I was making $135,000 as a Project Manager at Fiserv and will be starting my new job on Monday for a competitor making $150,000 to do THE SAME JOB! It's no secret that Fiserv sc--ws you with their below-market merit increases and bonuses but they also pay well below scale. It's VERY hard to find something at this time of year but I anticipate the job market will open back up by mid-January so start looking now.

Maybe it would be a good idea to go find a new job now before the lay-offs. The longer we wait, the less likely we will find another job with all the competition. Especially if you only get the little management severance package. Why wait ?

This is the only real job I’ve ever held since graduating from college. I’ve never held a permanent position. Do I even have a chance in the current job market if I were to be let go?

Job Description as of today says “ This requisition is meant to create talent pipelines and maintain engagement with potential candidates. We encourage you apply to this opening even if there are no available openings on our careers site.”

But this is literally “on our careers site”. So is this one an “available opening” or not?

If you were reorged (moved to another department without applying / not your choice) and it’s not working out. Can you apply to another position within the company if it’s been less than a year? I know generally you should wait a year to apply but this role is not working for me at all. I want to go back to a similar role I was in before and willing to take a pay cut. Any thoughts or experience you could share would be helpful.

I know update the resume and hit LinkedIn. Any advise from others who have applied? I am a hands on IT engineer in the HPC (high performance computing) team. Linux, Python, Kubernets, monitoring, etc.

Job searcher here! Are any of your departments hiring? I have a MBA from Duke so I should be a preferred candidate for management jobs. I can relocate to Dallas if needed, but preferably would like to work remotely.

I know it wasn’t about my performance, but it still stings. Whether you want it to or not, it makes you feel invalidated. And by all accounts, finding another job isn’t going to be easy. It just su-ks.

My company is hiring but I would not recommend anyone from Verizon for any position. They all have the wrong mentality.

The last few years in the Vz meatgrinder has taken a toll on my mental and physical health so I’ve decided to spend the remaining days of December eating, drinking, recharging and enjoying time with family and friends. I’ll start the job search in 2026. 🎅 ☃️ 🎁

Getting laid off feels lousy. But on the upside, I don’t have to dread work tomorrow. Usually on Sunday evenings, I feel a spike of cortisol in anticipation of the coming work week. I’m checking my work calendar to see what meetings I have, making my task list, deciding if I need to commute into the office, etc.

Tomorrow I will sleep late and there’s no need to check the calendar. Like many of you, I have to pound the pavement and look for a new job. There’s work to do in updating my resume and searching the job boards, but I’m also going to make it a point to relax a bit and enjoy the down time. I hope you’re able to do the same.

The job market is bad and I haven’t been able to land any offers despite some interviews. Relocation would probably save my job temporarily but it would cost my other’s job as it is not transferable. Anybody faced this situation? What did you do? Also, were you let go after relocation costing both jobs?

Just got an interview with Google 7 days after my layoff. There is hope for those laid off, you all got this too.

I started months ago. The problem is, it’s just slim pickings out there. I’ve managed to land exactly one offer, and it was such a lowball it barely felt real. The job hunt itself is wearing me down more than I expected. Trying to stay motivated when nothing solid turns up is exhausting. If anyone has had a good experience, please share. We all need some encouragement right now.

After the thanksgiving day off. it is hard to be thankful for working at US Foods for the first time in my just over 10 years here. I am here for work and see everything diifferently after reading all of these posts last night. My husband and I agreed that I should look for a new job because I woman of faith and I cannot honestly like making this company succssful when we can just wave off what is written on here about this Mr Kernel man. It is an insult to everything we are suppose to stand for. I have given over a decade to this company but will look to a new venture in my future where I can work for a company with ethics? I can't give any more.

I know how easy it is to worry, but all that is doing is ki-ling yourself.

Instead just keep focusing on what you can control in the job and preparing for if you need to find a new one. Get your resume ready, spend 20 mins a week practicing interviewing questions, spend another 10 mins a week looking for new jobs, etc.

Your worry won’t change the outcome one either way. I know it is easier said than down, but try to capture your thoughts and change them when worry comes.

I've handed in my notice because I found a new role. I know I got really, really lucky in this job market. It couldn't have come sooner, since I truly can't take the unhealthy atmosphere here any longer. I’m really going to miss working with a lot of people here, and I genuinely hope every one of you finds something better and gets out of all this stress sooner rather than later. Good luck to everyone.

I’ve been out looking for the past 9 months. It’s tough out there with very few places hiring and if they are salaries way below what I was making. While my work wasn’t always great and I had things to complain about, my advice is try to keep what you have because the options are slim. I thought it would be a lot easier and now would come back in a second and even with a smaller bonus would do better than what others are offering right now.

I lost a job I didn’t even like, and I definitely won’t miss my manager, or a few people on my team, for that matter. But I’m still terrified of what’s out there. I’ve saved enough to bridge myself over for a bit, which helps ease the anxiety. I’m giving myself some time to decompress, and then I know I’ll flip straight into panic mode the moment I start dealing with the job market. I have this feeling things will get worse before they get better. It’s really hard to feel even remotely optimistic these days.

Shankar’s AMA session today once again confirmed that additional workforce reductions are expected within TPG in 2026. He also acknowledged that leadership was not able to complete all planned organizational adjustments before December, as had previously been anticipated. This round of impact appears notably smaller on the Ansys side based on empirical data collected through internal high-level communications, which now aligns with the delayed timeline because the leadership is still trying to figure out these legacy Ansys portfolios, e.g., under MBU, FBU, etc.

Its been less than a week since layoffs and im conservatively at 300 job applications submitted and I live with Linkedin like its my mistress. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be able to continue to feed my family. Stay consistent and we will come out just fine. Use your network and dont be shy about letting others know you need a job if yours was taken last week. Wishing you all the best

Being unemployed, I am looking at the big job boards (which I don't trust) and companies career sites. One thing I notice is that it is quite rare to find a company that uses Oracle for their database.
Thats what I get for sticking with and learning RDBMS ect. for all this time.

in anticipation of any possible layoffs, i've just updated my resume. I used some resume writer from texas on Fiverr. Has anyone done the same just incase we encounter obstacles in our way and the company falls off the Cliff ?

From here, it’s only going down. Everything is changing so fast, and we’re nowhere near keeping up. If you’re smart, you’re already hunting for a new opportunity, because waiting around is just going to mean going down with this ship. At this point, it’s not a question of if it sinks, but when, and being proactive is the only way to have any control over what happens next.

Has anyone successfully had their unemployment benefits claim extended in Cali?
My benefits run out soon and not much luck finding anything.

No matter what your end date is? I already sent out about 50 applications. I know some people are taking some time to recover, but I'm too scared to wait.
