I was hired a few weeks before the hiring freeze and haven’t built up a cushion to survive off of yet. I just graduated and moved here for the job. I’ll be royally sc--wed if I get cut whenever they start doing actual layoffs 😬

I retired from Nielsen 5+ years ago. A former coworker pointed me to this site, so I'm out of the loop. I only ended up on the careers page because my son just graduated with an engineering degree, and I thought the Oldsmar facility would be a great place for him to start. Instead, I'm perplexed; are all the engineering jobs in India now? What actually happened to Nielsen? The engineering culture and work at Oldsmar used to be great, but now it seems like a ghost town. Some departments have been laying off staff for months now. Was that a separate initiative?

This company can't be trusted. If you make too much money or someone doesn't like you, you're probably a target. In some divisions you have zero job security no matter how good you are. Start looking for a new job now and save up a rainy day fund.

Is it ideal? No. Is it better than a lot of places right now? Yes. If you've taken half an hour of your day to brows available jobs, you'd know how cr-ppy the job market is right now. Having a relatively safe job with a decent pay at this moment is more than many others have. As I said, this place is far from perfect, but let's get some perspective.

How bad does it stink to service the big chains now? It’s easier to create a local Jam or honey and sell it into a Walmart locally than it is to sell for a cpg company right now. My neighbor got her honey into Walmart (9 stores) and is making more than our TSLs from that alone. These jobs are really bad right now.

Software company ServiceNow announced layoffs affecting 63 workers in its San Diego office. This action contradicts CEO Bill McDermott's earlier pledge to maintain a steady headcount. How should I approach my manager about volunteering for the next RIF? I won't go into too much detail here, but I have been incredibly miserable since they moved me to a new role after the first wave of VSP in 2024. It's a role I never would have applied for on my own. Originally I had hoped to stay in this role for a short period of time and then eventually move to another role internally. However, given the current state of the company, that is no longer a viable option. I was thinking of giving my notice soon (no I don't have another job lined up, but I have enough savings to get me by for quite a while). Should I approach my manager about volunteering for the next RIF so I can at least get severance? If so, how should I approach the conversation? Or should I just give notice and be done with this place?

Anyone heard anything? Wondering if we should polish up our resumes.

Say what you want about this place, but for me, it's still one of the best jobs I've had. Pay is fine. Work is interesting. Coworkers are great. That's why I'm scared of getting laid off. I don't want to go.

I left and now I regret it. This place isn't perfect but it's still better than most.

BAE Systems is cutting jobs in Jacksonville. Nearly 200 employees are affected by these layoffs. This represents about a quarter of the local workforce. The company cited expected workload as the reason. These reductions began this week.

Dana Incorporated will begin layoffs this month. The auto parts manufacturer plans to close its Robinson, Illinois plant. Layoffs are scheduled to start on June 15. More than 80 employees are expected to be affected. The plant closure is a significant loss for the city.

Why do I still work here?

Probable answers include, but not limited to:

“I’m close to retirement” (acceptable)
“The job market stinks” (bad answer; it hasn’t always stunk; you had plenty of time to leave when it was booming)
“Would have to accept lower pay” (possibly but su-k it up)

They will continue to do rolling layoffs in cat finance through 2027. This is currently not AI layoffs but jobs to overseas. Personally witness interviews for people in india on jobs that's traditionally did not exist in that region

Biopharma companies cut or planned to cut 6,956 employees in May 2026. This represented a 47% year-over-year increase in workforce reductions. How do I convince leadership to let me go back to my old role/team instead of laying me off? I have been moved around to so many times in the last few years, I’d really like to go back to what I was doing prior to all the re-org’s. Also, does anyone know if HR will offer a lower position in another are vs. laying someone off? No longer can get a masters degree? Are these clowns really continuing to go down this cost savings route? We already have zero job growth with no new positions anywhere in finance (and other depts). Whatever, the company su-ks now and I’ll just do the bare minimum until I find something better

Fairly new to the company. How do surpluses work and what sort of roles are they targetting

In what was once a somewhat protected role, we are now being told that the EA roles are now changing to a worldpay model. I’m fairly new to Global Payments and I’m worried about my job now. This place is toxic and creates anxiety for their employees. I work with a great bunch of admin gals (and some admins guys) but I’m feeling the anxiety of what others feel when they don’t know what’s to come.
