I've been thinking about what happens if I get the call. Do I start sending applications the next day? Or do I take some time, a couple of weeks or a month, to reset before diving back in? I've seen people do both, but I'm not sure which is right.

Laid off end of July 2026
My last day was July 31st from the Chandler site. Just hired with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, more pay than I was making at Intel, seems like a better group of co-workers and more fun for sure. Don’t fret being laid off from Intel its not the only game in town and be open to other vastly different fields, I was young enough to still be under the age limit for ICE so that was good.
I'd rather be laid off than be put on a PIP
One comes with a nice safety net, the other is a certain kick in the behind with nothing.
101 Creative Ways to Say “Get Out”
Getting fired is now like a subscription service with multiple cancellation tiers.
“Layoff” if they’re feeling honest.
“Restructuring” if they’re feeling corporate.
“Performance management” if they want you to blame yourself.
“Voluntary separation” if they want you to fire yourself.
“Attrition” if they want to pretend nobody actually did anything.
“Role elimination” if they want to make it sound like your job died peacefully in its sleep.
“Strategic realignment” if they want you to believe your career simply took a wrong turn.
“Workforce optimization” if they want to imply the workforce was somehow the problem.
“Doing more with less” if they want to give you three jobs and one salary.
“Organizational simplification” if they want fewer people doing twice the work.
At this point, the only thing being optimized is the dictionary definition of unemployment.
They don’t need an HR department anymore.
They need a thesaurus with a severance budget.
More layoffs in October
I am hearing more layoffs from my manager on the network side coming in October. Regions will be combined to reduce head count.
Layoffmgr
When will the official announcement of a fourth round of layoffs be made? As part of streamlining management layers — for example, one manager per 20-person team — is it possible the cuts will focus only on management-level roles, without this reflecting on any individual’s performance?
Sacramento Parks Staff Face Layoffs
The city of Sacramento is planning to lay off or demote 37 employees to address a significant budget shortfall. A majority of these separations will impact park maintenance workers across 26 positions. Other affected departments include the Office of Public Safety Accountability and the city manager's office. The city is attempting to close a $66 million budget gap. Union representatives argue these layoffs will not solve the deficit and will harm essential services.

School District Cuts 503 Positions Amidst Financial Crisis
Sacramento City Unified School District has finalized layoffs for 503 positions due to a significant budget shortfall. These cuts are intended to address a $127 million deficit and save $23 million. The district faces the possibility of state receivership if it cannot manage its finances, which could lead to 5,000 employees not being paid. The majority of those laid off are hourly workers. The board is seeking alternative solutions to avoid state intervention.

Apple VR Team Downsized
Apple has reportedly laid off an entire team focused on virtual reality development. This move comes as the company shifts its priorities within its spatial computing division. The restructuring suggests a temporary pause on the VR category, with a new focus on AI and smart glasses. While the VR team has been significantly reduced, work on future iterations of the Vision Pro and smart glasses is expected to continue. This indicates a strategic recalibration rather than a complete abandonment of the VR/AR space.

Layoffs are coming
I’m hearing that major cuts may be coming in the next couple of weeks, and it looks like VPs are being asked to provide numbers from each team. Please be cautious and consider exploring other opportunities as a backup. Unfortunately, these could be especially challenging times for anyone who has recently been on a PIP.
H&C Humana Contract Loss
If the contract ends in December, will PCR, SICC, and ALC layoffs happen starting in October? Or will they cut us right before Christmas? I’ve been a PCR for 6 years. Preparing for my next move. About what percentage of the staff will remain? At least 25%?
Another IBMer in a PIP today.

My Manager rated me 'needs improvements, after giving me additional work due to layoffs.
My Manager rated me 'needs improvement' and provided some comments after giving me additional work due to allocating more work after laying off a colleague year back. I used to have good ratings during previous 6 years with successful meet expectations.
Are these managers not trained, or what legal advice can I take or who should I talk to? EU employee.
Done with layoffs?
Now that the DCG was booted, are we done with layoffs for a while? Or are the rumors of a 60000 headcount true? I told my friend at work he was just being paranoid, but I don't know what to trust anymore
I am not a financial person. Is this a good or bad sign for potential future of layoffs.

Verizon's plan to redeem $1.25 billion of its 4.329% notes due 2028 in full on September 21, 2026, is generally good for the company's long-term financial health. It shows active balance-sheet management and reduces future interest obligations, though it requires a substantial cash outlay upfront.
Why It Is Good
Lower Interest Costs: Paying off these notes stops future interest payments on that $1.25 billion, saving money over time.
Strong Financial Confidence: Redeeming the debt early signals to the market that Verizon has enough cash or liquidity to handle massive obligations without trouble.
Cleaner Balance Sheet: Reducing total leverage makes the company look more stable to credit agencies and long-term investors.
The Downsides
Immediate Cash Outflow: Verizon must part with $1.25 billion plus a calculated make-whole premium and accrued interest all at once.
Opportunity Cost: That cash cannot be used elsewhere, such as investing faster in network infrastructure, funding new acquisitions, or boosting shareholder returns.

When are the layoffs of the most deserving going to start?
Honestly this time I hope everyone that gets laid off are those who deserve it. Sick of seeing hard working friends get axed.
During your 21 day decision window
Those of us designated NSI, for performance reasons, politics, or just because some freak Project Manager with the stupidest hairstyle hated you, what are your thoughts during this 21 day decision period?
What are you likely to choose and why?
Can I be laid off?
Please? I'd give anything to be shown the door with severance. I've grown to absolutely hate this place.
Heads down focus and let it rot strategy
I am going heads down for the next 12 month until things get worse. We should lose EH in about 6 months.
Can anyone verify that 7 is accurate?
Our agency missed 7 months in rolling 12, is the following statement from a previous post accurate?
"Agents that miss 7 months out of a moving 12 month measurement will get a 90 day terminaton notice in the 8th month."
New Layoffs for PSO
Just got my Zoom meeting. Final separation date is Oct 23. Severance is salary/benefits/vesting through separation date plus 2 weeks of On Target Earnings (min 8 weeks) for commission employees.
Are fall layoffs coming?
Are there any rumors of fall layoffs after open enrollment? I'm not hearing the usual chatter but it seems to be a yearly event. It also seems to have been unusually long since the round. My mgr asked about my general flight risk in a meeting stating they were assessing the group plans. Is that a normal conversation? Our group is definitely not hiring. If anything it's shifting to more offshore.
They laid off staff who are customer facing, and now the whole operations are in shambles.
Customers are not getting answers for weeks and months,
Issues not resolved and accumulating.
They thought Ai will resolve all issues for them and replace staff.
The remaining teams are understaffed.
Big layoffs starting Monday
I have an internal source who just shared with me the final review of layoff plans was concluded today. On Monday they will initiate early morning emails informing those being let go. Full severance.
Has anyone noticed most of the ppl being laid off are ADA and older workers?
Whatever consultants Wells hired for these rolling layoffs must have told them severance packages would mask the illegal discrimination well.
Mid-year IM
Located in a core location and received IM for mid year. Does ageism play role in this? I ask because like many others I have been a top performer but i am 59 years old. Does this mean I will be layed off soon or is it worth making effort to raise the score for year end?
Layoff packages
With the onesy twosy layoffs still occurring why is there no info here on package? Weeks of severance? Weeks of cobra? , etc. has it drastically been reduced?
