Why so many Directors report to Directors?

I’m talking specifically Individual contributor Directors (no direct reports) reporting to Directors (not MD). Even BS “Director in Project Management”. Explain that one. You someone’s kid? Got dirt on someone? Why pay a bloated salary to a director of no one, instead of a Sr Manager?

BTC Expat Visa Fees

I recall seeing a post on this forum a while back where there was a government website that listed all the positions that ExxonMobil has had to pay the $100K visa fee for that were posted and the salaries for those positions. Does anyone have that link? One of the positions I recall was in EMTECH which had a salary of $500K without the visa fee. How is it that the company thinks it is saving money on these positions by filling them with TC expats? Is it because they don't have to pay their benefits or US 401K and pensions? Could someone shed some light on how that all works?

Will start looking for other work if my team is hit again

My team has been reduced by 30% in the last year while Oracle GPT has not made us 30% more efficient. The people let go in the last layoff had been at Oracle a long time which has made things harder slower too. My job has turned into a death by meeting multitasking he-l.

I’ll be looking for other companies to work for if my team is reduced again.

Give chance to right people to move up

Why is Verizon not giving the chance for the right people with skills to move up?
When I talk about right people, it’s about people who are not getting any inherited wealth and are not relying on a cushion of being lazy in management. Why isn’t there an audit happening before promoting such people to see if they’re actually performing consistently. With a tangible metric assigned to it.

Why is Mozambique team to be in Milan?

“Engineering of the inside battery limits (ISBL), including the liquefaction modules, will be executed by McDermott from its London and Gurgaon offices, with project management seconded to the JV team based in Milan.”

Obvious question: why is the project management team not in Gurgaon? Sounds like the Mozambique team is more concerned about a nice expat location than doing what is right for the job! Guaranteed almost all of the work will be done in Gurgaon.

Riddle me This -

What has managers who manage their own calendars, senior managers who manage to avoid actual work, and directors whose only direction is "let's circle back"? Executives who couldn't execute a simple Google search.

Seriously, managers with no employees, senior managers with zero understanding of management, directors who just direct the flow of bullsh-t that comes out of their own mouths and "Executives" that preach AI because they themselves cant think critically?

The answer? A complete mystery!

Was the merit increase never planned?

When LP communicated no merit increases in Q1, he mentioned that if results were good in Q2, he would reopen the topic. Well, LP tells Wall Street everything is great, rosy, awesome, right on track, etc. and then a week or so later tells the employees the results were bad, and they will look at raises in 2027. That was a gut punch, since this will make 3 years without a raise. My VP told me that his SVP promised raises in August, but we had to sell and inkjet or I would not be eligible. Why do our leaders make promises they can't keep? Here's an idea, maybe fund raises with cutbacks. since we bought Lex, I now have not 1, not, 2, but 3 "VP/SVPs between me and my old SLT SVP. We added 3 layers of people that I have no clue what they do. Why not cut some layers like you are supposed to do with a merger, and fund worker bee merits
