Is this true?

From an article in Medium:
“ Changing Severance Packages

Employee forums have been buzzing about AT&T’s plans to revamp severance packages for management employees in Q1 2025. The proposed shift from a standard six-month severance to a role-based tiered system could significantly impact lower-level managers’ benefits.
New tiered system:
Level 1 managers: One month salary
Additional month per management level
Standard benefits include PTO payout and career transition support”

We are well beyond 1q 2025. Maybe he is thinking 1Q 2026?

What’s going on in Wilson NC?

Lots of folks have heard rumors that the folks in the Wooten bldg are moving to the Forest Hills bldg. They have even gotten rid of their daytime cleaning crew. I thought they were revamping that bldg. what happened? They certainly haven’t done anything to the Forest Hills one. Slap some purple paint on a wall and call it a day. Will they revamp the Forest Hills bldg if we are all under one roof?

Kiss your pension bye bye!

January 01, 2026 the pension plan will be frozen and all employees will be converted over to the current 401k match plan.
Here is the plan:
RTW-will shed hundreds
Reduction in pay and benefits will shed hundreds
Reassignments to claims will shed hundreds
Outsourcing and AI will shed hundreds
Pension going away will shed hundreds
What's left may get some kind of the new severance plan but that will be the last resort as SF will do everything it can to force you out and make no mistake about it. These people are pure evil!

AT&T

I'm hearing rumors AT&T wants to close the Lumen deal before the end of the year. This might explain why.

AT&T announced yesterday that they will pay EchoStar $23 billion in cash to acquire a portion of EchoStar's wireless spectrum licenses, specifically 30 MHz of mid-band (3.45 GHz) and 20 MHz of low-band (600 MHz) spectrum - the deal is expected to close sometime in mid-2026

Name the album

Name the album that best sums up this cluster f*ck of a reorg. I'll start with Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. One rumour I've heard is that maint contractors are busy looking elsewhere and doing a lot less work as they know they'll be gone soon to Engine.

Real news on RIFs

This site used to have good information related to coming layoffs. Now all it seems to have is people complaining about upper management and/RTO. Sadly, the site is becoming more irrelevant as time passes.
So I will try one more time. Does anyone have any REAL intell on coming layoffs?

Are firings up?

Like many or most of us, my group continues to see layoffs. But I have seen no one be fired even though I think they could easily make a case for some of them.

Is this the norm in your group as well?

Any Lower-Mid Manager Affected?

There was a lot of hype here about how the entire mid-management layers would be obliterated in this recent LR. Some of us expressed disbelief . Like clockwork, I don’t see any evidence of that at least in tech presales. Our total waste-of-space managers in the U.K. market are swaggering around with big smiles on their faces. So much for the rumour mongering.

Conflict of interest?

Serious question — what’s the point of keeping husband-and-wife combos in the same department or even the same company? It always turns messy. Conflicts of interest, favouritism, gossip, and when it goes sour (and it usually does), everyone else has to pick up the fallout.

Plenty of qualified people out there looking for a chance, but instead we’ve got couples playing house on the company dime. Is it really worth the drama?
