Information and Personal Data Check

I got the emails yesterday to confirm all of my personal information, emergency contacts and mailing address. I know they do this here and there, but it also seems like they have done this right before a big cut.

I have no basis for this - just my gut. I guess we'll see what happens. Either way, at least it'll be done and I can stop worrying - 15 years of this garbage and I've had enough.

Activity tracking expansion

Well looks like this is being expanded to personal lending. The email assured us this will not be used to evaluate individual performance. Sounds like complete BS to me. I’m in position where work isn’t always steady, comes in waves, one week slow, next one busy. I don’t think I like what this means for people like me.

Any experiences with this anyone would like to share?

Seeing account deactivations being enqueued again

I work for a team that manages OIM data. I reported seeing account deactivations being enqueued before the last round of layoffs and got some denial pushback from people here. Well I just wanted to say, again, I’m seeing account deactivations being enqueued in our system. I can’t share who since I’m not going to make that query in my name (I just maintain the health of the databases). But the tables are populating.

Hope everyone will be ok. I lost some friends in the last big round.

Centene -- the 1st company to be taken down by AI

I understand that AI can help automate some processes, but it is NOT the answer! So many people hate talking to automated call centers and crave human-connection and understanding. AI cannot do ALL of the jobs Centene is erasing! It's been proven that AI makes horrific and literally fatal-mistakes. Who is liable when AI starts causing member-deaths? People, we've seen the current headlines of AI directing people to un-alive themselves, we've seen the movies--we know how this ends! :'(

NOAA Staff Reductions Spark Meteorologist Worries

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is implementing staff reductions. These cuts are raising concerns among meteorologists. Local weather forecasters rely on NOAA for crucial data and support. The potential impact on weather forecasting accuracy is a significant worry. Meteorologists are expressing apprehension about these developments.

SHOULD I ASK?

Im not one that was vsp eligible, however with all the changes going on i checked my schedule in NICE IEX and i cant see anything past September 4th! Ive never had a reason to check my schedule until now. And no it has not always been that way where it shows up last minute. Im seeing lots of people being let go around that time. I havent gotten an email or teams meeting its just business as usual for my team. Im in the claims call center. My question is…..

Should i reach out to HR and ask why i cant see my schedule? My supervisor wont tell me anything

Are layoffs actually on the horizon because of these acquisitions ?

AMD is doing a string of acquisitions lately with the most recent one being Taalas. I've heard that things are already dicey internally@amd

But are layoffs actually on the horizon because of these acquisitions ? Any chatter?

The sad part is that there's no 'over' after today

In the past, layoffs were final. They took a day or two to let everybody know and after that we could refocus on our work. Now, even after this round is done, we know more will be coming. In a month, two, or six, but we all know it's coming. There's no reprieve anymore. Just constant stressing.

Air Conditioning cut?

Am I the only one who has noticed that the Webster, NY buildings feel warmer this summer than they did last summer? There is zero cool air movement in some of the labs and some of the cubicle areas. One lab in particular, which we used to call "Ice Box," is now "The Bahamas." It is literally that hot in there.

More layoffs - 12% of staff

Yep, another 12%. Media companies across the US continue to circle the drain.

p.s. Feel free to add that short, toxic, fat, combative liability of a new CISO to the list. Someone who actually fits in the culture would make things better. His enemies list grows week by week.

What’s going on

Bryan has the energy of a used car salesman. He seems very untrustworthy and incompetent. They just talk a lot without saying anything substantive. What is happening with the company? What is HISs future? Why do they even do quarterly calls to tell us we are doing well and then pull some bs like this. Bryan is taking home a gigantic paycheck compared to the size of our company. The greed of shareholders is really insane. Every company lays off thousands of employees like it’s nothing just because the profits were 1 or 2 percentage lower.

No information

The function I work in hasn’t communicated anything about the reorg. Leaders did one initial communication that gave no information, and they said more will be communicated when information is available. It’s now August and still NOTHING. So now we’re all stressed and anxious, which isn't good for focus, productivity or safety. And we’re wondering: Do our leaders even know what their fate is let alone what ours is? Or does leadership even realize the affect that their lack of communication is causing? This lack of communication feels so disrespectful and manipulative. Just giving us a timeline would make people feel better.
