I would love to leave, but there are no good jobs out there and even the bad ones are hard to find. Every single company seems to be running on skeleton crews and layoffs seem to be around every corner. So I stay here, even though my motivation is completely gone and my stress is through the roof.

I can't think of a single reason to stay here, but I can think of about a hundred reasons to leave.

This company isn't it. Gave up on a turnaround long ago. Layoffs are the main event here. I do my job, nothing more. Dedicated exactly to my pay grade. Effort won't be rewarded. Focus instead on your well-being and job hunting. Works wonders against the stress.

I got laid off in November. I genuinely thought as a senior manager I couldn’t find another job that pays a base salary that’s 190k unless I get super lucky at a tech company. But in sooooooo shocked and beyond greatful to God after 7 months of constant applications and rejections I landed a role that far surpassed my expectations both in comp and privilege. Don’t give up hope to those of you still looking. It’s so demoralizing - I know. So glad it all worked out.

I am an internal employee currently on job reassignment. I need a new position or the company will sever my employment. I demand to know when they will put back the jobs they removed.

No point in investing in this place. Look at who they cut - nobody is safe, and hard work clearly doesn't matter.

What's with those job postings on careers page, isn't it irony or what exactly going on, can someone enlighten me, am seeing some tech job listings, would like to apply lol

Survivors, how many of you are interviewing and applying somewhere else to take advantage of the higher commodity price. My guess is 50% or more of the company is at this point.

A lot of other companies are hiring and I don’t believe the “transformation is complete” narrative.

A big round of layoffs last week! A lot of good people who were loyal career employees were axed with zero empathy from leadership. With the abysmal combined ratio this company is running, you can expect more devastation to come! IMO this company is posturing to be sold or fold. Run for the hills, folks!

Amazon will temporarily close its Port St. Lucie fulfillment center. The closure begins September 17 and will last two years for upgrades. This action impacts 850 warehouse employees. Amazon is investing $200 million into the facility renovation. Affected employees will receive severance, benefits, and job search assistance.

Has anyone forced out or currently training their replacements have any luck finding a new job? Can you share any tips? Did that "job search assistance" they offer help at all? I read that you get taxed in your severance for that "benefit". If it is useless can we opt out so as not to pay taxes on that?

I've been unemployed for months after being laid off and I'm starting to lose hope. I'm not sure what's worse, the rejection emails or the silence on the majority of applications I send out. I honest to goodness don't know how much longer I can keep doing this.

Can anybody figure out what the hiring manager is looking for to fill this position? The position has been on and off since the beginning of the year ... They are looking for a lead one day, a manager another day, a senior or level 4 ... Can someone make up their mind over there what they are looking for? The recruiter is in TX, a nice guy, and he told me that the hiring manager is driving him crazy.

I did an interview there and was ghosted after I mentioned that I am an ex L3Harris employee who was laid off in 2025. Every time I open LinkedIn, this job pops up.

Also, what programs are at Yorba Linda Sites ... seems it is L3harris, but nobody mentions that site much when I was in the SAS division.

Any info helps the Canadianite for this job since I am out of the picture.

Layoffs in 2026 are inevitable and I can’t help but chuckle when people come onto this board to whinge about more layoffs are coming.

Are layoffs stressful? Absolutely. No one is denying that. One thing you can do is change your mindset.

Control the controllables.

You can’t control whether you are going to be laid off or not. What you can control is finding a new job. It’s not easy to find a new job in this market, so start looking now. Don’t wait until your job is impacted to look for a new role. Who knows… you might get lucky… engineer yourself a redundancy when you have something else lined up. To do so, you have to be smart. You can’t be bitter. It takes weeks to engineer a redundancy so get your ducks in order! There is life post Citi. You might surprise yourself. You may enjoy life after Citi more than you enjoy life at Citi. Food for thought.

I felt down for about five minutes. Then I started looking forward to my first good weekend in God knows how long, and then to having this forsaken place in the rearview mirror. I know I'll have a hard time finding another job, but I'm going to enjoy this newfound freedom before I start worrying about that.

but I got surplused two years ago. Just came back to check in to see how things are going with everyone. Sounds about the same. It was rough going out there for awhile. The job market is so bad, I applied to over 1000 jobs and it took me 16 months to land a job and it was an indefinite contract job which I'm still in with hopefully FT soon. While the layoff/unemployment/job search process was a nightmare and really did a number on my mental health, some good did come out of it. We were able to pay off every ounce of our debt with the severance. We found an awesome financial advisor and rolled my pension and 401k over and he's made us a ton of money since then, much more than I would have made where it was sitting. It does su-k not knowing if/when this job could end but I'm making $40k more than I was at AT&T and doing much more interesting and meaningful work than I was. The company I'm at now is a billion dollar global manufacturing company and they have their sh-t together so much better than AT&T, it's like night and day seeing what it's like working somewhere that actually cares about their employees. Best of luck to all of you out there. It was hard to lose my job but ultimately I think it was a good thing for sure.

I was laid off several months ago. I've gotten to the final round multiple times since then and each time, they pick someone else. The reasons are always vague and feel like excuses. My self confidence is now completely destroyed. I'm losing sleep and I feel awful. The irony is, I'd give anything to have my job back, the same one I hated for years before being cut.

I've been applying for months through the big job boards and getting almost nothing back. No calls, no interviews, nothing. For those of you who've been laid off and managed to find something, which platforms actually worked for you? I need to change my approach.

Work’s gotten to the point where the exhaustion never really resets anymore. I’m tense all the time, sleep badly, and barely have energy left for anything outside the job. It’s not just stress at this point, it feels like the place is slowly draining me physically too. I need a new job.

was laid off in January but finally landed a new gig this week, now I can cash out the remaining few months of my severance. definitely a tough job market. Spent the last 4 months applying for jobs and upskilling my tech stack. I applied for over 350 jobs, about 30% got thanks but no thanks emails, 67% completely ghosted, and the remainder varying forms of interviews. while the new job pays a little less than wf, but has a lot of career upside, great benefits, and in office requirements are much less stringent. Definitely a different job market, but there are jobs out there. try not to get discouraged

I've been turned away by 4 RIAs for jobs that I am well qualified and experienced in. Jobs they are hiring for, and Schwab does not have postings for. Each of them says "since we custody with Schwab, we have agreements signed that we cant hire employees until you've terminated for 18 months."

I'm not bringing clients with me. This feels contrary to FTCs 2024 non-compete appetite. And the position doesn't exist at schwab anyway.

Feeling stuck.

Every Sunday night I tell myself that this week I'll definitely start applying. I'll update my resume, browse listings, send out a few. Then the week happens with all the deadlines, meetings, fire drills. By Friday I'm running on empty. The weekend comes and I do nothing. Then Monday rolls around and I promise myself again. I feel like I'm stuck in a loop.

I know what's coming and I know I should be looking. But after work I'm so drained that I can't bring myself to update my resume or browse listings. Anyone else feel this way?

I've been casually looking at job boards and I'm mildly put shocked by what I'm seeing. One posting today wanted a single person to run their social media, manage their email marketing, analyze campaign data, handle customer support tickets, train new hires, and manage a small team. That's at least three different jobs. Plus they wanted five years of experience in each area. Plus a degree. Plus full time in office. The salary range was $65k to $75k. Are companies actually finding people willing to do all of this, or are they just posting fantasy descriptions and wondering why they can't fill them? Anyone else noticing this inflation of expectations?

I was laid off 3 months after starting here. Looking back, I missed the signs. Exploding offer, nervous recruiter, vague job description, no salary range. Learn from my mistake.

• Remove any pending vacation time if your company pays out unused PTO. You do not want approved future vacation causing issues with payout processing.
• Download or screenshot your annual reviews, performance feedback and any recognition awards. You will use these later for resume bullets, interview stories and measurable accomplishments.
• Save copies of paystubs, W-2s, benefits information, commission statements and PTO balances.
• Schedule annual medical, dental and vision appointments before insurance ends and refill prescriptions if needed.
• Start applying for jobs NOW. Do not wait. Build your LinkedIn network aggressively and use AI strategically. Gather 10 job descriptions for roles you want, feed them into AI and tailor your resume/LinkedIn around the keywords, metrics and business impact repeatedly showing up in those postings. Focus on measurable results, not responsibilities.
• Save personal contact information for coworkers, leaders and recruiters while you still have access.
• Take pictures/screenshots of dashboards, workflows, presentations, trackers or work examples you personally built so you can later recreate sanitized versions for portfolios or interview discussions. Obviously do not take confidential company or customer data.
• Focus your remaining time on transition work, documentation and knowledge transfer. Stay professional until the end. The world gets very small during layoffs and reorganizations.
• Understand your severance, COBRA costs, unemployment eligibility, 401(k)/HSA options and any RSU or stock impacts before your final day.
Most importantly: do not freeze after a layoff. The people who recover fastest usually start networking and applying immediately.

I've been avoiding this for months. I told myself things would get better, that I could wait it out. But after the last round of reorgs happened and the latest gossip about more cuts, I've accepted that I need to leave. I really didn't want to go through the interview process again. It's exhausting and demoralizing. But I feel like I have no choice anymore. I can't stay somewhere that makes me this unhappy.

I've been unemployed since Cisco showed me the door in the last round and I'm starting to question everything. I see job postings everywhere, but I'm not sure any of them are real. I apply to five or six a day. I've done this for months. I've gotten maybe a handful of responses, all rejections. And every rejection is the same generic form letter. No feedback, no explanation, nothing that could help me improve. Just sorry, moving on with other candidates. If they're not actually hiring, just tell us. If I'm doing something wrong, tell me what it is. The silence and the mystery are making me crazy.

What are the odds Penny installs a badge out keypad by June 1st? I hope everyone here is actively looking at the job market. Not every company feels the need to babysit their employees.
