US has the weakest employment protections hence global companies appear to be shedding US roles to India. The weak severances add risk for those affected and financially solvent to consider class-action lawsuits if they do not to sign separation agreements that prevent such an opportunity.

Has anyone in the UK, EU, or India regions noted any confirmed internal news or formal communications regarding significant headcount reductions or layoff plans in their respective D&B offices?

🙋‍♂️. Saved for 4 years on a down payment trying to buy a house so I can start a family. Due to all the layoffs, that has been put on hold indefinitely for as long as I work here.

Can't wait to get out of here but the job market is absolutely trash.

Technology 15% cut

I started at Verizon when I was 21. I’m 36 now 15 years in and I’ve never felt more afraid of losing my job than I do right now. I’m a top performer, but none of it seems to matter anymore. This new CEO is coming for everyone, and morale is trash. At this point I don’t even know if I should keep grinding or just stop trying, because this company clearly has zero loyalty. If my hard work means nothing, why should I put in any effort at all? Anyone else feeling the same?

This was not based on performance. It was done to save costs and involved random selections to foster a new culture within and, disrupt existing friendships/cliqs

For those of you who did not get laid off on Thursday, do not feel like you are safe. There is more yet to come. February/March I heard is the next wave. This layoff affected thousands at ALL levels, all the way down to the frontline. Verizon has over 6000 stores and what’s left of our corporate locations? 1200 or so after Thursday? If you’re thinking “Phew, at least I’m safe,” THINK AGAIN. Don’t get comfortable or naive to the fact that you very well could be next, no matter your performance.

I’ve been getting mixed advice with many folks leaning towards not working at all from now until their last day worked. Curious what it looks like for you? I have the option to do either, I believe, and ethically, I feel that I should help with the transition since I’m still technically employed until Dec 19. I’ve never been laid off before so I’m not sure. What are you going to do?

After years of paying you to do your jobs, we've discovered that the real problem holding Verizon back from "delighting customers" is.... you! Specifically, 13,000+ of you. Your salaries are apparently the only thing standing between us and becoming "faster, simpler, leaner, and scrappier". We are firing a fifth of our managers so the rest of you can live up to your potential. This isn't a layoff, it's an exciting "reset" and "reorientation" around our sacred mission of delighting customers. Think of it as a HOLIDAY GIFT. 'Tis the season to be overworked as we enter this new era of additional blackout days and longer store hours. If it doesn't ki-l you it will make you stronger which should help you during our next rounds of "promotions to customer". But don't worry, we're putting 20 million in a "reskilling and career transition fund" - that's roughly $1,500 per person which is totally enough to learn to code or become an influencer in this economy. We didn't even notice this was taking place during the holiday season and trust us, it was totally unintentional. Survivors, act grateful, work harder, and remember: the next "reset" is always one bad quarter away. Cheers!

Got laid off two weeks ago and my gas sponsored credit card still works! Thanks. Feel zero regret about it. If COP read this do something and stop all these cards from working on laid off people. Anyhow this is another example of how badly things are planned in conoco.

I’m just sitting here reminiscing about the past 37 years working for Nynex/NYTel, Bell Atlantic/Verizon. The union, while certainly far from perfect, got me enough to get married, buy a house and raise 4 kids into adults while allowing my wife to stay home and raise them. Did they blow it with the tiered compensation/benefits for new hires? Yup. Did they bone over retirees with crushing health insurance costs starting in January? Yup. Could they have done better with pensions and lump sums? Yup. Did they spend way too much time and effort defending slug members who should have been fired? Yup. But overall It’s been a good ride with a good group of coworkers. Not sure if I’m gonna bail before August or hang for a bit longer, but either way it’s gonna be on my terms. As for the recently layed off folks, I feel for y’all - this company is as ruthless as it’s ever been and this guy Dan ain’t gonna be a bag of laughs for any of us. Cheers and good luck. AGB

After SA operations shutdown more EU subsidiaries (Cyprus, Greece, Ireland) will shutdown their operations as company management cares about their bonuses and their own interests.
Any thoughts on this?

It slowly became more and more of a drag on morale as we cycled through one after another managers, directors and VPs.

The last of which were only focused on themselves and the choir of supplicants that sang the same tune. Alas I got tired of hearing it all. I was rather surprised when my director and an HR person scheduled a meeting to let me know my services were no longer needed.

No warning whatsoever just a thank you and a well wishes to not let the door hit me on the way out.

I guess that’s why they don’t have as people with more than 3 years tenure.

Any laid offs happened on Friday?

TriMet's eliminating about 68 positions, including at least 26 layoffs, to close a 300 million dollar shortfall. Job cuts come alongside transit service reductions.

Providence Swedish is cutting 150 to nearly 300 positions across Seattle and Puget Sound. The co is restructuring clinics, insurance operations, and administrative units.

Not good timing at all

They’ve been a never-ending affair for a long time.
I wish for an alternate reality where none of us had to live in permanent existential dread.

It’s only going to get worse until the next round hits.

I really hope better jobs find the people we lost yesterday, and soon. As far as the leftovers are concerned - none of us should stop looking for other options. Something will eventually work out.

Did Verizona’s standards team get impacted?

The anticipation was the worst part. I made it through, but I don’t feel relieved, just completely drained. I really feel for everyone who lost their jobs and wish them the best of luck. I hope better times come for all of us.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is preparing to lay off 22 people in December.

So my dept was job completed/lay off while I was on vacation. I RTO to my office which I’m by myself and remote from everyone else. My boss and 2 other remote coworkers who I only conversed with over email were let go. I never got notified and nothing in company mail. I came back from work and worked like normal and learned over the next several days what happened. I didn’t reach out. All my logins work, I get automatic generated tickets to review then send off. Everything is still working and I can continue and have been continued to do my duties. I’ve done this already for the past several weeks and even got paid.

Should I reach out my 3rd line or just lay low and keep working? In webphone I am also NOW listed under my 3rd line when before I was under my manager and my coworkers.

VTeamers do not get too comfortable if your job is saved this time around… round 2 is coming sooner than you can think of, End of March to early April i am hearing from a realiable source details are being ironed out. The frontier merger should be finalized before Feb 16th and at that point frontier has 20k employees and they are all not cutting cut, i heard verizon can only cut a maximum 50% of their employees to avoid legal ramifications, that means we will have an additional 10k employee cut again in late spring! If you Don’t believe me ask your direct manager if there is a second round coming soon that was something discussed with them once they had already gave the notice to employees who would be impacted, they had a second meeting with their leaders to debrief. You can also go back and check their calenders yesterday you can clearly see their calenders match at a certain point….

Without mentioning at&t , this is only part of what is behind the curtain for how layoffs with T will continue.

Chubak is planning unannounced layoffs before Christmas. This is a psychological ploy he used at Citi in order to "keep the survivors in line". Apparently, he is paranoid the people left behind will form some type of revolt against senior leadership. He is a fairly paranoid guy in meetings.

Nothing new, but I am tired of dealing with this failing company, the layoffs of good employees, etc... so I'm looking for a new job at a growing company. I just want to make sure that I receive my LTI, deferred comp, pension credit, and 401k credit. Will working through 12/31 suffice or is it 2/28/26? Thanks!

Sales division just got a mass layoff - anyone below a certain point. Heavily hitting commercial as government is still putting up good numbers.

There’s no way there was an increase in the number of new jobs created this past month or for November. Especially with all the layoffs. Maybe they are part time jobs!

First and foremost- to all our brothers and sisters in arms who were in the trenches with us that found out they don’t work at Verizon anymore yesterday, I’m sorry. A lot of good people were cut. The timing couldn’t be worse

But for all of us left- winter is coming.
That was the first phase of a long term plan to lean down. They cut the bare minimum to still have performance for the holiday rush. Once the New Years comes and goes there are confirmed more planned cuts for Q1 and Q2. and rumor is the packages won’t be as nice as the ones our fellow fallen soldiers got yesterday.

Update your resumes. Take skill up trainings and network. This isn’t close to the end .
