Only told a full day in office
How many hours is that exactly? 6,7,8,8.5? Are they trying to keep this vague on purpose?
Employee monitoring
Does FIS use user tracking software to monitor our activity. I’ve noticed recently that my manager has been messaging me more frequently when it is a slow day. Really makes it hard to enjoy working here.
CNRL Yes or No
Generally speaking, most O&G companies are a mess. Changes to work from home; limited to no longer available, chaotic environments, and inconsistent leadership. I've worked at a few, and each one felt like its own kind of circus.
That said, what makes CNRL stand out (negatively) compared to peers like Cenovus or Suncor?
If you started at CNRL’s Calgary corporate office, what do you wish you’d known beforehand? Would you genuinely advise others to steer clear?
What about the many DEs and Sr. PEs ?
Any affected? I dont know what they do
Data Town Hall
Anyone here attended it? Was it any good? Anything important discussed?
Would ExxonMobil buy OxyChem?
Occidental Petroleum in talks to sell OxyChem chemical unit for at least $10 billion
Occidental Petroleum has announced that it is in advanced talks to sell its chemical division, OxyChem, for at least $10 billion. The announcement sent Occidental's stock rising over 1% in premarket trading. The potential sale is expected to accelerate the company’s efforts to reduce debt and improve shareholder returns, according to Barclays. An announcement could come in the next few weeks, marking a strategic shift for Occidental as it focuses more on financial strengthening and streamlining operations.
OxyChem is a major global producer of chlor-alkali, PVC and caustic potash, with strong cash flow and links to Occidental’s Direct Air Capture initiatives. Despite its operational value—evident in Barclays’ projected EBITDA growth from $1.24 billion in 2025 to $1.46 billion in 2027—Occidental appears willing to divest the unit to boost balance sheet health. The $10 billion price tag reflects a roughly 7x EBITDA multiple for 2026–2027, higher than the company’s current valuation multiples. Even after taxes, the deal is expected to be slightly accretive, further reinforcing positive investor sentiment.

LSEG AI press releases - any substance?
LSEG has put out a handful of press releases in recent weeks (Databricks, Reuters). Is there genuine substance to what’s being announced, or is the firm simply attempting a bit of damage limitation after the rather underwhelming outcomes of the Microsoft partnership?
Can i get unemployment benefit if I am laid off
Please tell me the process to apply for unemployment benefit.
RIF for EMEA
Greetings! This is my first time posting here. I have heard through the grapevine that RIF's are coming to EMEA in October for some of the Irish sites. Can anybody confirm if this is true?
would you accept an early retirement?
let's say you are 58 - would you accept an early retirement?
i am curous about how people are thinking about the topic (more than helping me make a call).
you can assume anything you'd like (e.g., having or not having enough saved, age of kids, etc.)_
Is severance negotiable?
They're basically giving it to us so we don't sue them down the line, right? So is there a way to negotiate the number or any benefits that might come with it? I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but this is the first time I'm facing layoffs and I'm just curious.
Severance Payment
Anyone else not get their severance payment on time? I signed the final paperwork on September 4 and was expecting final payment on September 22. No payment received.
Can your immediate manager use this opportunity to lay you off
i was the only one riffed in my team and probably the product. Was working ok, not so excellent but not so bad that i will be riffed. Have been in Oracle for 2 years
actuaries get impacted yet?
heard someone say actuary and client were next, anyone know anything
Cut the 3rd grade Managers
If AI cannot replace FLMs and even SLMs then how is it used to detect early cancer ?
So... what now?
I was fortunate to get a job in the last wave, although it was nothing that I had applied for. The only information I have on the role is the few lines of generic description that I was sent after the fact. I don't even know who my boss is. Again, I'm glad to have a job, but it leaves me wondering... what now?
Target cost savings $2 billions
Is that per year or over several years?
Because if the target is saving 2B from laying off, the math doesn’t seem to jive. Lets say avg employees salary+benefits etc is $300k/yr/person, which is a reasonably high est for avg, laying off 3k will only amount to 0.9B. How could they target to save 2B and said estimated 2-3k employees?
Equipment return
Need some help. I was part of the RIF earlier this month. Given WARN, my last day is Nov 3. However, I got the equipment return box this week. Am I supposed to return the equipment now (within 5 days) or wait until Nov 3rd ? I have no use for the laptop but since I am still on the payroll (albeit garden leave) until Nov3 , I wasn’t sure if I should return things now.
relocation payback period
Heritage Pioneer here. Pretty tired of this s...t show already. Nothing good here. Time to leave before it gets too damaging to my health.
How long do I have to stay not to repay for relocation? I know it's 12 month, but from which date does the count starts? is it buying of the new house? selling of the previous one? or from the start date at the new office?
Freising site
People being laid off in Freising. Are you negotiating or accepting the offer?
I got 2 months of severance, not enough to wait for unemployment benefits.
If we don't accept can they fire us?
Corporate offices or any office RTO
Are RTO just corporate offices they are looking at or any sales agency/clinic location?
Outlook for transitional roles?
Are we just watching the clock count down? Putting forth our all for an end date in sight? Stiff upper lip and hoping Mama might want us again?
Coforge merits
Hello everyone rebadged. Have you already had one-on-one meetings with your managers regarding merits? Will we receive the same as in Sabre, meaning the standard 2%?
Where there RIFs similar to this 2008 or before?
How has TI historically handled RIFs? I haven’t been at TI long enough to see other RIFs of this magnitude
Pattern showing up with disabled employees?
heard this same story a few times now. A buddy in Digital said they told mgrs about hospital stuff, got promised support, but when cuts came the scoring didn’t take anything in to account. And in BRG, some chatter sounded the same. Then there was a yammer post too, almost word for word. feels like ADA is just surface decoration here, looks good on paper but doesn’t change how people get treated. anyone else seen it. wouldn’t be first time bp gave support in name only?
So which is it? More layoffs next week, or nothing until December?
It’s impossible to function normally when we don’t know what’s coming. Our livelihoods are on the line, and it’s a real a--hole move from leadership to keep us completely in the dark.
Can anyone share reliable updates about next week?
Is this still just speculation, or has any concrete information been confirmed about what’s coming?
How did things turn out in SJV?
There were talks of doom and gloom but word of mouth didn’t seem operations was affected very much if at all?
Layoffs on the horizon?
Any idea which areas might get hit? Way too many rumors flying around right now, hard to tell what makes sense and what doesn’t.
How do they decide who gets let go?
Who makes the decision on who actually gets laid off? And is it mainly the non-senior people who get cut?
Are the layoffs over for now?
Will there be more next week? Anyone aware? I’ve heard that they will start reviewing and laying off lower level employees but not sure when.
Acquired Center for Research in Security Prices
Will this lead to layoffs?
Next Big Layoff
So when is the next layoff?
Moving manufacturing into Intel's 10nm/7nm? That will pull back US companies to 10 years back?
Trump wants manufacturing to Intel or GlobalFoundry?
Can Intel manufacture really make any for US companies? on 7nm, 10nm, 14nm?
