Layoffs do happen often in this industry, but right now is especially bad for finding a new job. If you think there are layoffs coming start putting out the resumes and making connections now. I know people that have been looking for work for a year now, and they all say hiring is slow on the open market, and the best way to get a job is through your own network and making the right connections ahead of any layoffs. I am hearing stories of people applying for hundreds of jobs and not even getting a sniff of interest. If you have a good paying jobs with benefits keep it and start looking while you have a job. That has always been the advice people have given me, but it seems like it is more true now than ever. Good luck for those looking in this current environment.

Are you a store manager on an action plan? I would start looking for a new job. Action plans are one step away from termination.

It is obvious layoffs are going to be massive. Maybe they will not happen all at once, but they are coming. I am done waiting. After 15 years here, I sent out my first applications yesterday and will keep doing it every day. It breaks my heart because I do like my job, but I will be damned if I just sit around waiting like sheep for sla-ghter.

The plan lasts for one more month. Can anyone tell me if I can seek other internal jobs here at Ford while my performance improvement plan is in effect? I really want to get out of the group I work in.

I've started making a list of jobs I'd rather do than stay here. Stocking shelves overnight. Washing dishes at a diner. Answering complaints for a utility company. All of them sound amazing compared to one more shift in this place. That's where I'm at right now.

I see posts from people here that say they left Nielsen and they are happier and/or they earn more money at their new jobs. Some of you even say that you've "found freedom". For those of us that are looking for work it would be really helpful if you could let us know what job you were doing with Nielsen and where you went? Let us know if any of your Nielsen skills transferred over that your new employer may have been interested in.

For your job seeker out there, beware of the Indian recruiters who immediately wants you to sign a right to represent. Once you sign this right to represent, your résumé goes in the trash and they promote their Indian friends and family. Just don’t sign it and tell them thank you very much. It is a deceptive practice on their part. I have been the victim of this so I speak from experience.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Those of you still employed at this soul succubus better enjoy the paycheck while it comes because this job market is a dumpster fire from he-l. This is not the market of 5 years ago. If you haven’t been in it, you have no idea what you’re up against at the moment.

I've been gone a few months now and I just want to tell my old teammates to start shopping around. Update the resume, send it out, maybe hire a service to help. The job market is rough but staying put isn't the answer either. I wish I'd started sooner.

I've lost count, but the last time I checked I was above 300 applications, which still feels surreal to say out loud. I’m applying to roles I’m genuinely qualified for, the kind where my background, skills, and experience should line up, yet the response has mostly been silence. To say this makes potential layoffs scarier would be an understatement.

Everyone I know is burned out. This place isn't what it was ten years ago. We'd all leave if we could but nobody's hiring. I've got a masters and 50+ applications out there. Not one response. The constant threats and fear have drained me completely.

This is the weirdest spot to be in. I actually enjoy what I do and the people I do it with. But the layoffs keep coming and they keep taking the best people. Every quarter I do the math. Who's left? I understand people are stressed, but it is still better to have a few weeks to prepare for layoffs than to be completely surprised when you least expect it. I spent four months searching while employed and it was one of the hardest stretches I've had. The pattern was always the same. The market is strange right now. Companies post roles but they want a unicorn. Someone with twenty years experience who will accept a junior salary. The math is brutal but you just have to keep going.

Relatively new to State Farm and now having second thoughts. Seems like there are a lot of concerns about future. Did I make a mistake? I am pretty sure I can find another job quickly. DFW is booming.

First weekend in forever where I'm actually relaxed. Started off feeling awful, then it just lifted. I know the job hunt will be brutal. I've been looking for months with nothing to show. But I've got savings to get by. Right now, I'm choosing to enjoy being free of that toxic place. You never see how bad it really is until you're on the other side.

Chicago, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Tysons Corner, and South Coast Plaza are all top tier locations with lots of foot traffic in the mall and surrounding areas, if these locations are closing, I eventually see all locations going under. Please, if you count on Saks or Neiman's as your main source of income, start looking for a new job, I'm so sad for all the wonderful people I worked in the 24 years I was at Neiman's. Times are changing and not for the better. God bless everyone at Saks and Neiman's stores.

It always felt a little cliché to come here after being laid off and see people posting about how they landed a new job a better job with more money, doing interesting work, and feeling valued by a new employer. Many would say their layoff from Oracle was the best thing that ever happened to them. Honestly, I used to think they were positively full of s*it. After months of rejections, all I wanted was my old Oracle job back. But it turns out those people were right. You will find another job, it will be at a better company, with management that appreciates you, paying A LOT more than Oracle, and with a healthier work/life balance. That’s exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago. So to those who are about to get swept up in the next round of layoffs (it's going to be significant) don’t panic. It won't feel like it at the time, but it will end up being the best thing that ever happened to you. Take a little time off, decompress, take a couple vacations, and then start the job search. There are better opportunities out there. I found one, and you will too.

I was part of the mass layoffs in December. The other day I received an email from a recruiter about a few contract to hire openings that they felt I’d be a good fit for. They found my resume on one of the job boards that I’m using. I stated that I was part of the mass layoffs and the recruiter stated the were aware and had roles they needed to fill.

It’s sounding like they know they sc--wed themselves and are scrambling to fix it.

Last day for me was 12/19/2025. Have an opportunity for recruiter firm for work with Frontier. Opinion on would the cooling off period apply to this situation. The work would have nothing to do with merger.

Ten. Frigging. Months. And I'm not optimistic it'll even pan out. I've lost count of the resumes, the outreach, the recruiters. Fake job posts, dead ends everywhere. There were moments I wanted to give up, just let whatever happen, happen. I thought I'd find some calm despite the endless layoffs. Instead, I just wound myself up tighter.

I had high hopes that there would be some improvements with the new regime but they are every bit as indecisive as the last batch of lackeys. The 1B area is a mess with people running around chasing their tails because their new boss lady can't make a decision and the leads are scrambling too. I sure hope Steve Sparkes' powers of observation are sharp and he picks up on the issues in his org soon or he will be the next sacrificial lamb. People are holding on by a thread waiting for change but the good ones are polishing off their resumes and looking externally since the internal postings are a joke.

Just because cuts stopped for a bit doesn't mean they won't start again. Keep looking now while you have leverage. Future you will thank you.

You can't open LinkedIn without being hit with so, so many of those. The thought of entering the job market in current conditions is terrifying, to say the least.
