November Unemployment is 4.6% or…
7.8 million people out of work.
Per CNN article.
Let that sink in.
MW and friends are desperate and out of ideas
Chevron will continue to decline as long as the current crop of executive leaders are at the helm. They are simply out of ideas. The stock price has been moving sideways for years despite buybacks, cost cutting, acquisitions and divestitures, and layoffs. Our reserves impress nobody. Our projects still run over budget and over schedule. Exxon is eating our lunch.
The executives are desperate and all they can think to do is desperately flail at changing the window dressings and offshoring more work to cut costs, quality be damned and forget about increasing reserves or investing in exploration. They talk about AI hoping to ride some of that wave in the market but it’s just lip service at this point.
They forgot we’re an oil and gas company and now all of us peons have to pay the price for their lack of competent leadership and dereliction of duty. It’s going to get worse before it gets better - and it’s never going back to what it was. If you’ve got more than 5 years left in your career and have a decent alternative employment opportunity I’d highly recommend taking it.
A bus company in Mount Vernon has signaled plans to lay off 832 workers.
The state Department of Labor reported potential layoffs affecting 832 employees at a school bus yard in Mount Vernon and 885 more in Brooklyn.
On October 20, Pride Transportation Services Inc. informed the state of its plans to permanently lay off 1,717 workers at the two sites by the end of October. The notice was made public on December 10.

Budget gap forces DePaul University to cut 114 jobs.
DePaul University has cut 114 staff positions as it deals with ongoing financial pressures. School officials say the layoffs were driven by a drop in international graduate students, increased financial aid needs, and higher benefit expenses.

When a company starts pawning its patents to pay the bills...
Xerox’s problem is brutally simple: more cash goes out than comes in. Every quarter.
The business isn’t generating enough cash to cover interest, restructuring, and working capital.
Why? Because Xerox is burning cash from operations. Not investing cash. Burning it.
To plug the gap, they’re selling patents and borrowing money using what’s left of their Intellectual Property as collateral, basically pawning the family silver to pay this month’s bills.
At the current pace, they’ve got maybe 6–9 months of runway if they keep pulling levers like asset sales and emergency loans; without those, it’s closer to 2–3 quarters.
Seeking a $500M IP-backed loan means unsecured financing is effectively closed (credit rating at CCC+ = markets price in a real risk of default).
This does NOT fix the business, it just buys time.
If cash doesn’t turn positive fast (not “less negative,” but actually positive), the only realistic outcomes are:
#1 More asset sales (DocuShare, XMPie, CareAR, etc)
#2 Forced recapitalization (debt converts to equity, shareholders wiped)
#3 Chapter 11 (court-supervised version of #2)
Everything else you hear is just nicer words around that math.
The endgame is no longer theoretical, it’s just a matter of timing.

Merry Christmas
Hope all Dell workers and previous Dell workers have a wonderful XMAS. In 2026 you want to rid yourself of Dell and ensure you sell any Dell stock you might own...
Layoff numbers this year
Looking back, it seems that fewer people were cut this year compared to recent ones. Yes, there were layoffs, but not as many as last and previous years. Curious if others are seeing the same thing.
Do recent McKinsey job cuts point to broader problems in consulting?
Recent layoffs at McKinsey have sparked a broader conversation about the state of the consulting industry. As one of the world’s most influential consulting firms trims its workforce, analysts are questioning whether this move reflects internal restructuring or a sign of slowing demand across the sector. Many are now watching to see if other consulting firms will follow with similar job cuts.
No layoffs in 2026
This is what I've heard
Hundreds of jobs will be lost in Riverside following a factory shutdown.
Meat processor JBS is shutting down its Riverside packaging plant and laying off 374 workers, according to a notice filed with California’s Employment Development Department. The closure comes as tight cattle supplies have pushed beef prices to record highs this year.

Layoffs confirmed at AAR Corp’s Triad operations, but the company did not share details.
AAR Corp has confirmed layoffs in its operations, though it hasn’t said how many workers were affected. The job cuts are tied to the Triad region in North Carolina.
CONFIRMED: January 2026 Layoffs
Moderate layoffs will be coming in January. These are mostly intended as a layoff for low or moderate performers across marketing, product and engineering, not as a broad layoff due to business conditions.
There are no specific target numbers identified — it is primarily low performers, unmotivated people and those who are not on board with the company mission.
The layoff process makes no sense
I can't understand the logic the leadership is using to choose who stays and who goes. They've let some really skilled people go recently for no clear reason. Some newer folks as well, who joined maybe a year or so ago. Their decisions just seem completely random.
All 1,600 Kentucky battery plant employees laid off as Ford pivots away from EV business
Ford plans to hire 2,100 employees for the new iteration of the Glendale plant, and a company spokesperson said Monday that all those laid off will have the "opportunity to apply" for those new jobs.

Any layoffs today?
Nothing where I’m at. But there have been a lot of rumors about more coming on Monday. I know we’re in this for the long haul, but I’d really like to know whether we’ll at least be left alone until the holidays are over.
Overworked, underpaid, understaffed, please no more layoffs.
I'm a FR in the West. We've seen our field and MR numbers go way down, and our home count go up. Nanos are starting to have these issues, scheds going on withthold, flags, PRS putting things on WH and not setting appointments, digital interims putting homes on withhold, and yet we still have the same performance expectation and policies.
There was a guy on the U.S. townhall that was retiring and called out management. I know they weren't happy inside and even though he was the only brave person to speak up, nothing will change. I've been looking for a new job for a year and it's been really difficult. 15 years ago we had AP. It was a pain in the butt, however at least the expectations and home count ratio were more acceptable.
If we go through another round of field layoffs, it's going to absolutely tank our performances. But so many of field guys refuse to unionize, so leadership can keep taking advantage of us and giving us more and more homes, with less field reps, and the same pay.
Optum Insight layoffs
Hello. I am a journalist with the FT who writes about Optum and UnitedHealth. I have heard that there was a layoff at Optum Insight sometime before Thanksgiving. Would love to chat with anyone affected for a story I am writing. Get in touch, Mansur.Shaheen@FT.com
The world has become a sad place...
Seems like the world has gone downhill fast these last few years. Not just at work, but at home.
There suddenly seems to be fraud everywhere, people manipulating other people, people willing to lead children astray, possibly for a little cash.
You can't trust anyone these days. You can only do the best you can. Try to raise your family to have the right values, but with so much corruption around them, what can you do?
Even those places you think that are safe, maybe aren't.
Then, your workplace goes out from under you. You lose your job and there you are with just one more thing to take care of.
It’s good ol’ boy and gal networks not DEI
I keep seeing these comments blaming being laid off and the sorry state of the company on DEI. That wasn’t the case in my experience. In my case there were good ol’ boy networks that took care of their own. You didn’t need to be white or to be a man to be part of the network but it helped. Some individuals were so good at playing this game that they were part of more than one network. They managed to be part of whatever network was ascendant.
Diversity and inclusion was just pretend where I was. Almost everything was just pretend. It would be comical like a parody if it weren’t for the consequences.
With nearly 100,000 employees in many locations, it’s possible that others had a different experience than mine.
Years of DEI is catching up to Target
Target tech and product is cooked.
If fidelky thinks he’s going to get anything out his tech team, he’s stoned out of his mind. (I spelled his name wrong - it’s not worth the time spelling it right)
This is the most reactionary/pedestrian group of senior leaders ever assembled. And if you add to that the layer of DEI VPs over the last 8 years, you will get leaders who monitor sprint metrics while the place burns down around them.
Glad that I landed a new job outside Target -staying at target is worse than getting laid off. It’s a complete clown show funded by a bunch of ignorant stock holders and board. good luck all - use Christmas to reassess your career.
Loving the reviews...
"Constant restructuring and layoffs, forced return to office without enough desks for everyone, management decisions, lack of transparency, HR is completely disorganized, horrible health insurance, complete disregard for DEI."
"After committing financial su----e by acquiring a non-profit for a whopping $800 million dollars, the company managed to destroy it's culture by favoring edX employees over original staff. That's when the company began it's descent into chaos. More bad decisions by the so-called leadership, constant restructuring with mass layoffs. To top it all off, blatant lies by the CEO about their ridiculous bonuses, right before declaring bankruptcy. The company was privatized, only to go through more restructuring. It's only a matter of time until 2U is sold to the highest bidder."

The core problem with Citi is the MD gremlins.
Gremlins that instead of fostering an environment of positive growth in such a way that you WANT to be here and others from the outside WANT to be part of Citi……
You have gremlin MDs that rely on desperate people that NEED to be here. These are people who are easy to bully, manipulate and whip into servitude and long hours and sacrifice of personal time.
You can’t do that to those that are not desperate. I’ve seen quite a few already financially sound people on solid ground take a look around and “Yeah, no, this is not happening, there’s nothing here of any substance” and leave.
This in itself speaks volumes. The constant pumping out of notice after notice of “tough decisions” , “tough growth”, “hard messages”, “difficult changes” etc… is enough to deter anyone from hiring on to Citi. How do you draw in AND retain truly top talent from the outside given this environment. Sure, Citi can draw in the top talent but retaining them is another thing.
S&S Activewear
S&S Activewear will close a Texas distribution center in Irving, the're cutting 146 jobs between December 2025 and September 2026
LeeMAH Electronics: 84 jobs in Richardson gone...
LeeMAH Electronics will close its Richardson facility, cutting 84 jobs tied to aerospace, medical, and tech industries
Jingle Shell, Jingle Shell
My hope for 2026 is that Shell finally sticks with a reorg and gives it proper time to play out. No more knee-je-k layoffs and asset sales every 6-12 months. If you have to change course that often you don’t know what you’re doing.
Could also work on staff appreciation and driving the share price up but I won’t hope for that much.
When will first line managers get let go
Don’t teams need a minimum of six? On my site many are down to four and many of the ones that aren’t they are having managers plan to cut down to that. This is in research. When will managers get cut? Didn’t see any in last round get cut and none through PIP either
Today's Layoff
Bloomington hit today!
Executive departures?
Does anyone know where Sandy went? Fired or resigned?
(may have been covered here but) Brian Sweeny is gone as of last month.
Any more expected executive departures from the old guard?
Paul, James, Shannon .... I'm looking at you.
Promotions & Layoffs
Promotions - Basically you can no longer get promoted unless someone leaves a C-level that you are interested in. E.g. C12 will not get promoted for how hard they work, they can only get C13 if someone leaves that role or a rec opens... Bonus have been rubbish for years and pay rise are the same excuse each year "the bell curve" and you get 1%
Layoffs - As we were advised before, would be 20,000 until 2026. Well more information out today that the layoffs will not stop. As long as AI and cut backs happen, this will just keep going on and not stop until the shareholders are happy.. which they never are. I would advise people to stop taking on more work, setting up meetings etc for nothing in return.
Never in my years of working for many companies have I seen a once reputable business become incredible tight and awful to work for. Why would I work overtime when it doesn't reflect? Why would I work harder if there are no promotions? Why would I want to stay in a dead end role with no prospect of earning more? Why would I take on more work and not given anything for it?
Citi has become the company everyone advises to leave or not apply for. A company at one time I was proud to work for, I no longer am. Citi is a place you go to live out the rest of your life by achieving nothing. Shame it went that way
Are there any severance changes on the horizon?
I’m curious if Optum will adjust severance again soon and if there’s any way to know that? Those updates sometimes come out of nowhere, but they’re too big a deal to just learn about them when the actual layoffs happen.
Chubb plans to cut 20% of his workforce
Chubb plans to cut workforce massively thanks to automation. Is AIG going to follow? We have cut a lot already but automation isn't our cup of tea for now, let's be real. Can we compete in the market with our present level of costs? I wish good luck and happy Christmas to everyone, I hope 2026 will be ok.
"East Region -Hold per HRBP" in job title
Just saw a manager job for my store posted with "East Region -Hold per HRBP" in the position title. What does this mean? It's a store that someone on here claimed would be closing but it has not shown up on any closing lists and seems to do very well sales wise.
New hire anxieties
I joined Cigna just a few months ago, and I have learned that layoffs are a constant and there’s a new round always looming. I am worried that being one of the newest people puts me at the top of the list. Hoping someone can explain if this is the case or if I might actually be safe.
