What is the Battle Damage Assessment (BDA)?

For those who were laid off, condolences. Don't sign anything without examining it carefully or, if you think appropriate, have an attorney review it. For those with long careers, please invoke the Rule of 70 when discussing your severance. It has to do with compensating tenured employees close to retirement age. Whether they honor it or not, it will give them something to consider if it keeps coming up. Be kind to yourselves. When reviewing your resume, make sure that it is in an ATS friendly format, this will make sure that any AI tools being used to filter resumes will see it and forward it for review. Apply for unemployment too. Remember, none of this was your fault. It will continue to happen to those still left on the field. It ain't over.

Submitting two weeks notice before bonus payout- can they withhold my payout?

Planning on submitting two weeks notice on the 19th, which would mark my last day sometime in March, after bonus gets paid out. Assuming I don’t get let go immediately and work until my last day in March, would I still be paid out my bonus or is it possible that it wouldn’t get paid out? I don’t think they would let me go immediately due to KT sessions, but wasn’t sure how it would work

Employers Face 48 State HR Rule Changes in 2026

California updates include sick leave amendments and pay data separation. Colorado and Illinois address AI bias, while Delaware and Maine launch paid leave programs. PTO Payout for Displaced is Early and Short?

My non-working notice ends 2/6 but I noticed on upcoming pay slip dated for 1/30 they paid some of my PTO (60 hours). I had 100 hours left when I was displaced in December, and thought I'd accumulate January/February as well. Should I expect another PTO pay out or did something get miscalculated? Everything thread I've seen on this topic mentioned getting PTO payout after your non-working notice ends but I'm seeing it before my notice ends and it's short. Thanks in advance!

Cowboys from (D)He-l

They failed to pay my last salary. I left Dell on my own terms and they haven’t made the last salary payment. Never could I ever imagine I’d have to start a debt collection process against one of the richest companies in the world!

For those that are being WFRd, please check your payments and check that taxes are paid correctly.

Layoff Call - can someone help explain it?

How do they communicate the severance agreement? Personal email or what? I know my coworker was laid off in November and lost immediate access to computer. So how do they communicate the info?

I have thought about this. If I get the layoff call, I will not be speaking on the call, I will type in the chat only. I am not giving them that final satisfaction of hearing my voice ever again or any of my emotions.

WA state layoffs

Salary workers…. Did you get your post increase in January 1st?
WA state minimum wage went up meaning the minimum a salary worker can make in WA state as of Jan 1 2026 raised to $80,168.40 annually. It’s weird the focus was on layoffs and we didn’t get our increase
I will be contacting a lawyer and LNI

UK Workers Sue TikTok Over Alleged Union Busting

Former TikTok content moderators in the UK are suing the company. They allege TikTok engaged in union busting tactics. Layoffs reportedly occurred just before a scheduled union vote. Working off the clock, manager terminated

Belk is seriously cracking down on managers having any hourly position working off the clock. That includes keeping hourly associates waiting to leave at store closing in the evening once clocked out. so once your hourly associates have clocked out they are free to leave. , even if it’s only a 5 minute wait. Also, hourly associates can’t be required to work past scheduled time, if their schedule says an 8pm end shift, that’s when they are free to leave and nothing can be done about it, RVP and HRBP won’t back you up on this.

Frontier deal set to close January 20th

20 Billion dollar deal negotiated, lots of conditions and agreements to include employment guarantees for Frontier employees, and DEI considerations.

How will this affect future non-union employee layoffs going forward?

Check out the National Labor Relations Act

Ex-Schwabbie here. If you are dissatisfied with work conditions, pay, treatment from leadership I would highly encourage you to check out the NLRA. It gives private sector non-supervisory employees the right to discuss such issues on social media, teams, a huddle, or even a screen saver. These are rights guaranteed regardless if you are part of a union or not. Check out the definitions of concerted activity. You have the right to bring up these questions and concerns to your leaders. If they retaliate then you have yourself a very strong legal case. Retaliation includes your work (phone calls) being more scrutinized than that of your peers. There is a reason Schwab doesn't train you on the NLRA.
