SRVUSD Board to Vote on Staff Reductions

The San Ramon Valley school board has a crowded agenda for its upcoming meeting. Trustees will consider affirming planned layoffs for both educators and classified staff. These reductions are due to the district’s current budget difficulties. The board will also review revisions to the district's grading and assessment policy. Additionally, community polling results for a potential new general obligation bond will be shared. Other topics include immigration enforcement response and categorizing the district headquarters as surplus property.

asked chatgpt about warn in 2026

Yes — **Verizon Communications has WARN Act filings listed for 2026 at its Basking Ridge, New Jersey location. Public state WARN tracking data shows two separate notices for that location in 2026 — one in February 2026 and another dated November 1, 2026 — both affecting around 1,319 employees.

Here’s what that means:
• Yes, they filed a WARN Act notice in 2026 for Basking Ridge.
• These filings indicate planned workforce reductions that the company notified to the state.
• WARN notices give advance notice (typically 60 days) before large layoffs are carried out.

So the answer is yes — Verizon has WARN Act filings in 2026 for that office.

If you want more details on what a WARN filing entails for employees (notice period, benefits, etc.), I can explain that too.

You get a promotion to VP, You get a promotion to VP,...

What's going on in IT? Two years ago there was one VP/GM position, the CIO, although they were approved for two. Now there are three VPs, including the CIO; the second VP position (then GM) was filled in 2024. That's a big increase in comp as VP's are a min of $850K (salary, VCIP, and RSUs), plus other benefits. I guess the recent layoffs in IT paved the way for the increase in comp for the newest VP. Welcome to the club!!

3rd Stock Award for people impacted

This question is for people who got impacted and no longer at VZ. In regards to stock award. I got 2 of the payouts and this week was rolling into the 3rd payout which is actual shares of VZ stock. When does it actually become available? When I log on to view it it says the following

“We currently do not have vesting dates on file for this award. Don't worry, it's nothing you did. Once we receive vesting dates for this award we will make it available to you.”

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Accenture Canada places 200 employees on redeployment.

Hearing some wild news from a former colleague out of the Canadian Federal group today.
Apparently, a massive engagement was terminated or paused effective immediately, sending 200+ people back to the bench overnight.
Looks like Leadership is keeping the details tight-lipped. Anyone know if this is a sign of broader public sector budget cuts or just a specific project imploding? Seems like a huge hit even for a firm this size.

These AI Initiatives Are Going to Destroy This Company's Tech

Leadership is STILL going all-in on this insane, stupid idea that AI needs to be a part of every product in this company. That every engineering team needs to be shoving resource intensive LLMs into their application no matter if the use-case of AI is.. useful. Otherwise they lose out on funding.

The critical, cognitive defect of these re--rds is astounding. Engineers who do actual work are either fleeing en masse, quiet quitting, or burning themselves out as they struggle to keep pace with the level of stupidity from their leaders.

I have NEVER in my time here seen something so astoundingly fu--ing stupid, and there's been a lot of astoundingly stupid things from our braindead leaders. As much as they gray-haired boomers liked to bring up buzzwords like ML, blockchain, etc. I never recall an initiative that EVERY team needs to be working with ML, or arbitrarily shove blockchain into their application.

It'd be one thing if they were simply asking engineers to use AI in some way, i.e. Copilot, ChatGPT, etc. It's another thing to have them invest actual time, resources, and FUNDING into throwing chatbots uselessly into their apps.

This is insanely disastrous and has gone on long enough from our negligent leaders. This DOES NOT "better serve our customers," in fact it does quite the opposite. This is a malevolent use of funding.

Strategy and Trust - Advice for new hires

The real issue isn’t just layoffs, it’s trust.

When cuts happen and communication feels vague, people lose confidence fast. Add tighter return-to-office rules on top of that, and it can feel like control is going up while security is going down.

WFH flexibility isn’t just a perk. It’s a signal. It says: “We trust you to deliver.” Being super prescriptive with attendance dashboards and badge monitoring sends the opposite message.

If leadership wants to retain the best talent, they must listen actively to the needs of the incoming generations who are screaming to balance their life needs better then previous generations. It comes down to a few basics:

  • Be clear about what’s happening and why
  • Be consistent between words and actions
  • Trust people to do their jobs
  • Push the flexibility policy more and stand behind it

Layoffs test culture. Culture eats all strategy (even the best ones designed by DW). Flexibility and transparency are how this company will succeed or fail. It’s too late for me because I made my decision so I leave this for the new hires coming in to witness.

Your move, DW

Terrible Pay Rise/Bonus Again...

Another year, another slap in the face.

This year they are citing poor share price, poor USD to GBP exchange rate and increased head count due to acquisitions.

Surely acquiring new companies brings the revenue from those companies... If that revenue is so poor the rest of SS&C has to cannibalise their rewards to properly them up then something is wrong...

Also, every quarter this year we have beat EPS revenue and profit according to the earnings calls and also reduced debt.

I bet Stone and Rahul still got their ever increasing pound of flesh while the rest of us get stuffed!

Vacation and Severance

To those that have already been removed from payroll, how long did it take to receive your vacation and severance payments after your last day of work? My last day was 2/20. I see the new paystub generated for this week, but it's only for five days of work. I signed the severance agreement the first possible day it was available (15 days prior to off payroll date). Just curious what the timeline looks like. Thanks!

Do not let this place bury you

It’s simply not worth it. Don’t let this mismanaged menagerie put you in the ground. While they shove more work and a 1% raise at you (while the CEO cleared nearly 30mm in 2024 per the 10k published). You’re doing time here that’s it. There is no future any longer working for PepsiCo - it’s just a name on a C.V. that looks good. When the economy picks up - they might as well just leave the exit door opened.

My Layoff Update

I was laid off in November from the Midland office and it's honestly been a blessing in disguise. Fortunately I got hired on a new job very quickly but I do miss the people I worked with. With my new career path its so nice to be fully utilized and not be bottlenecked by discipline engineering and needing the approval of 3 different departments to do something. I forgot how nice it was to not work for a corporation.

The idea that layoffs target low performers is a myth

It's frustrating when people claim layoffs are about performance. My whole department, from the VP down, got cut in the last round. We had strong reviews and bonuses to show for it. Sometimes it's just pure cost cutting with zero regard for who actually does good work. Spreading that performance narrative just kicks people when they're already down.
