Internal applications

This internal process seems quite nerve wrecking… you would think if you have been in the company for some time they would consider that and make it more easy to obtain a job especially if you have all qualifications.
I put an application for a higher grade and then a same grade position and interviewed for the higher grade position… I figured try to find something before my internal status ends… now I received an email at a very random time in the middle of the night that I am not being considered for the same level role. Which now makes me wonder what’s going to happen since I had hope the same role level was my backup….. anyone has experience with applying to internal roles that were successful??

Is burnout the norm these days?

It seems like over the past 2 years things have been getting progressively worse. We are expected to do everything faster with fewer resources. People are stressed and exhausted, and more end up leaving. A lot of positions are not being backfilled. We are constantly getting hounded about the 3 days in office policy (and all issues related to that). It just seems to be getting worse non-stop. Is there any hope, or is it better to look elsewhere?

Warning - Leave

Rifd PL here - do not stay. The plan is to remove as many paychecks as possible in the upcoming months. I see several posts stating management told them they’re safe. There is a reason they are using specific wording. They will not backfill all positions needed. They will utilize temps and continue bringing in outsourcing/ai.

Sarah wants profits so she doesn’t lose her seat and upcoming changes won't save her so she will continue to cut cut cut on top of the already projected plan to continue to reduce the workforce. I’m sorry “simplify” the workforce.

Only thing simple is that she is simply failing this once highly rated company.

Other leaders don’t say it to you all enough so I will, thank you. The workforce is what made centene great. It will never be the same once she’s done. I’m happy to be starting fresh.

Goodbye Centene and good luck to the people who made it great. Save yourself and get out before they pull your number. It’s not if, it’s when.

Free market’s favorite reality check.

Get woke, go broke:

Teradata’s fall can trace directly to SM hire.

He went directly to DEI, ESG and hiring based on imputable characteristics…

Managers had DEI dashboards with bonuses based on DEI. ESG was front and center with Each all hands meetings.

Pronouns had more priority than a bullet proof Business plan…. Changes to internal systems to make they/them smile.

ELT hires? Pure DEI.

6 years of woke put Teradata in this position.

Go woke … Go broke.

Teradata… the perfect case study

Salem-Keizer Schools Cut Staff Amid Budget Shortfall

Salem-Keizer School District will reduce its staffing by 120 positions for the upcoming school year, including 62 teachers and 58 classified employees. This reduction is part of a $23 million budget cut aimed at addressing financial challenges. Retirements played a significant role in mitigating widespread layoffs, with 80 employees accepting a bonus for early notice. While no student programs face complete elimination, some elective course offerings will be reduced. The district faces ongoing financial pressures due to rising costs and declining enrollment.

Got the news today

So today was when everyone was officially given notice if they got the position . So turns out the people who been here the Logan’s and didn’t take the package and applied for the rtm role were not offered the job. Big surprise . Instead the ones with less time with the company were the ones who received the position. Company is totally trying to get rid of the old timers with the big salaries. I believe once the company gets settled in they will
Also get rid of all the ones who got the position who clearly weren’t qualified since the beginning . It’s all a scheme to get rid of the old timers. Shady company

Verizon Assistant Managers - Corporate Owned Retail

You folks were not even good at selling... once you get laid off or fired.. good luck getting a job.

They will look at your resume and be like.. oh you signed in people to the queue, you gave credits to accounts, you "managed time sheets", you put things in digital lockers...

LOL

Useless position and no future.

Mba

What's happening with the MBA position? I know a lot do not understand the position and everything they do. They do so much. Basically a director is smaller stores.

How is perm position lower pay than contractor role

I’ve been working in my position as a contractor for several months and was finally offered a permanent position with UHG. However, the offer pay is lower than the start pay I received at the beginning of my contract. Like drastically lower to the point I don’t want to accept the permanent position at all. Trying to figure out my options but this is frustrating.

Goldman sachs tu-ds coming on board

Attracting talent...

Hmm, what kind of message this sends - a major LR while the company is highly profitable, with compensation that is only marginally above average.

Cisco markets to people who do not make purchasing decisions anyway.

Employees affected by this are unlikely to recommend Cisco solutions the next time they are in a position to influence buying decisions.

How many got hit?

How many people got impacted? What positions specifically got impacted in each BU? Any interesting people get laid off today?

I apologize to anyone dealing with the lay off. Both the website and dealing with being laid off. It’s one of the roughest experiences I’ve ever been through myself. But you will make it.

And if Fidelity is reading this, I will pay you to find whoever keeps making the Boston devops posts and take away their phone.

Attleboro City to Cut Positions

Attleboro Mayor Cathleen DeSimone announced upcoming layoffs. The city faces a $2.5 million budget deficit. Six to seven full-time positions will be eliminated. Rising health insurance costs are the primary cause. The city will balance its budget through these cuts and free cash.

Looking for Your Next Position, Chapter, or Retirement Path....

If you are working at Fiserv and you’re not actively planning your next move, now is the time to start. The reality is that many employees will not be able to retire from this company on their own terms in the next 12 months. The organization has signaled—directly and indirectly—that long‑term employee value is no longer a priority. In some cases, instead of offering severance, roles are being shifted to temporary agencies, which raises serious questions about stability and future prospects.

You have to focus on what benefits you. The era of staying with a single employer for 25 or 30 years and retiring comfortably is over. The job market is evolving quickly, and it’s essential to reposition yourself and begin developing an exit strategy that aligns with your goals, your skills, and your financial needs.

Do not hold on to a role that is losing relevance or a company that is no longer investing in its people. Prioritize protecting your future, expanding your options, and preparing for the next chapter—whatever that may look like for you.

Regarding Layoff, at least

Regarding layoffs, at least Jack Dorsey (CEO of Square, CashApp, Tidal) is being transparent, while Medtronic is not:

“we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly.

i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. ”

rms perspective

rms here outside of north east region. if they try to force me into an RTM role with no severance option, im accepting and immediately going std after this launchs for “mental health” ….then will use that time to find another position elsewhere. but to b honest, already been doin that, applied to hundreds of positions. nothing back. we are all effed. SR/RMS are all equally effed. worst economy since 08/09.

yes, it means I take a sales position from a good rep, but at the same time it will teach them a lesson and will leave a territory unmanned and in the dump. serves these vipers right.

Relax at Qualcomm

I have been with Qualcomm for the past 15 years. My current role typically takes only about 2–3 hours a day, and honestly, it’s something a new graduate could handle. Yet I continue in the same position and earn a Principal Engineer salary, which I’m very grateful for. Since I have extra time, I also pursue some real estate activities on the side., vesting and resting. There are hundreds of people like me in the company , milking the company as much possible.
