Whoa, looks like Stripe just didn’t like what they saw. Now the next guy gets even cheaper. I wonder how long until Enrique gets fired? He was brought on to execute faster but he can’t even do layoffs timely. We’ve been talking for MONTHS layoffs.

Cuts today
Unclear how many
The layoff reality
For your sanity, just assume every department will see cuts. You can either wait and see or take control and start looking now. I know that sounds harsh, but it's the reality.
Layoffs Sep 2026
Post losses here.
Will top management increase supervisor span of control? Easier to cut subordinates from rank and file-Associate Director-Director-VP levels
Easy way to remove excess fat.
D Day for ITC and soon it will be closed
People are pretty upset about the new VP from Walmart. Word is he's already having a tough time over there, so everyone is scratching their heads as to why Nike decided to bring him on. It feels like ITC is about to head downhill, and with no other locations to rescue, GT in trouble and shift everything back to PHK.
Layoffs??
Has anyone heard of any layoffs ahead or are things still quiet?
2027
If you think the layoffs in 2026 are bad, wait until the bloodbath coming in 2027.
Soooooooo
Are we done with cuts for now or not?
More layoffs
150 service reps got fired nationwide on Friday, August 14.
Why am I hearing about more layoffs?
What's going on?
What happened?
Layoffs were just an occasional thing until a couple of years ago. How did we get to a point where they're now happening every few months?
Stone Brewing Cuts Staff Amid Production Shift
Stone Brewing is closing three Escondido locations and eliminating 220 jobs. This move follows the company's sale by Sapporo to Firestone Walker and Duvel Moortgat. Production will be consolidated at facilities in Paso Robles, California, and Kansas City, Missouri. The company stated it is committed to supporting affected employees through this transition. This downsizing reflects broader challenges in the independent craft beer industry.

How many Layoffs?
It could be ≤5,000 layoffs. What do you think?
What a clueless management team
They are now assigning arbitrary ETAs to work items to justify their next targets for downsizing. No accounting for how long the work actually takes, just assuming their bean counting directors know a reasonable metric for every task under them, and making sizing decisions based on that fiction.
This is happening after they took away the functionality and systems to actually log your work performed and the time it took.
If you think it's bad now, it's about to get a whole lot worse.
Merck KGaA Cuts US Research Staff
Merck KGaA's North American division, EMD Serono, has laid off 20 employees at its Billerica, Massachusetts research site. This reduction follows a previous announcement about enforcing onsite work requirements at the same location. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect in late October. The company stated the decision was made to better support its R&D approach and future needs. This move is part of a broader trend of downsizing its American R&D operations as it shifts focus to external innovation.

The international environment is slowly declining
With mass layoffs in US, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, and elsewhere, the question arises whether the sinking Titanic will manage to stay afloat. All international operations are currently halted. Without vision and without progress... "Cu è surdu, orbu e taci, campa cent'anni 'n paci"
Are layoffs going on (Aug 14 2026) ?
As expected & rumored

More unfortunate news today?
Cuts are not over
Expect more today and tomorrow.
Wilmington Closure
So finally the company got the ba--s to be honest and broke the news Wilmington office IS closing June 2027. But the kicker is they are saying everyone “left” would be working remotely. I just don’t see that being true after all they just FIRED tons of people for working remote and some just because of downsizing. I feel in 10 months we will all be told to go home and leave the equipment right here as in HUGE LAY OFF. This su-ks!!!!!

Rapid7 Downsizes Workforce Amidst Financial Challenges
Cybersecurity firm Rapid7 has announced significant job cuts, impacting approximately 300 employees or 12 percent of its staff. These layoffs occurred during the second quarter, coinciding with a reported decline in the company's revenue and profits. The news follows a period of stock decline for Rapid7, though shares saw a modest increase in aftermarket trading following the announcement. The company is undergoing executive changes and integrating AI into its offerings to adapt to a competitive market. These workforce reductions are expected to incur costs between $11 million and $12 million.

Enjoy your August
It's going to be a rough fall season. I think they are on a mission to make this company very lean. That means going down to 6000 employees this year.
How many were laid off?

The sad truth is this was just the beginning
All of us who're still here can't even relax knowing we're guaranteed to see more rounds most likely already later this year. We've entered the stage where layoffs are a part of the norm, unfortunately.
Novanta Cuts Syracuse Jobs
Novanta Corp. is laying off 49 employees at its Cicero facility. Manufacturing operations will be moved to other locations, including California and contract partners. This move aims to simplify operations and reduce costs. Approximately 30 non-manufacturing employees will remain at the site. The layoffs are scheduled to conclude by mid-April.

What's going on with Hughes management?
There's been barely any communication to employees about recent events (like Hamid leaving), or the gorilla in the room, potential downsizing and a sale.
There also seems to be no taste for process improvement or innovation right now. They seem to be holding the status quo and operating on an "it is what it is" mentality.
I'm so tired of layoffs
We're down so much in headcount it's not even funny. The only folks left will be those who water the plants if it continues like this.
The writing is on the wall
I'm not nearly as negative as some people, but sadly, the facts are clear. Layoffs are just delaying the crash. What happens when they've cut everyone they can?
Get to $1B with the fewest people possible
All organizations need“Streamlining”.
