Here comes the Bo-m

Get ready, managers sending email asking to see who is interested In a VSP, which in other words if no one takes it will have a surplus!
Before any of you clowns start saying that it isn't true, I am in C and E district 6 and this happened today, also we are bargained for technicians not management.
Anyone know what the percentage is or have a clue if there is a list again like last time?
Be on your guard here comes the bo-m September 15th

Cash Team (COE)

Has anyone heard about the new Medicaid Accounting Cash Team that’s supposedly being created? Looks like the team may be formed as part of the restructuring related to the VSP/ISP, with some, if not all, Accountant I and II positions on the Medicaid side potentially transitioning to the new team. Just wondering if anyone has heard more details or can confirm.

EBOS Townhall Sad Continuation

We finally had the EBOS Townhall, postponed repeatedly after the VSP and RIFs started. Depressingly cringe, like trying to give a team halftime pep talk when 30% of the team left, 30% injured and the rest left to make up a 100 point scoring deficit. Carrie Milby looked bloated, stressed and overwhelmed while trying to deliver her "we got this" pep talk. For those left, Mission Simplify means doing more with less. God help us all.

Sept 4thers start prepping, please add to the list!

Please use this thread for anything we should consider:

  1. write down login details for VSP site
  2. update security questions in myPay
  3. confirm personal email and address in Workday
  4. write down your 6 digit employee ID (I’m an old employee that uses first initial last name so I never memorized this number)

Anything else I’ve missed??

09/04 Is Around The Corner

As I get ready to start this week, I can’t help but think that September 4 is right around the corner, and I’m starting to feel conflicted. Part of me is so happy to finally say goodbye to a company that, sadly, became toxic due to certain leadership decisions. Don’t get me wrong, Centene has some amazing employees and leaders, but unfortunately, they feel few and far between. At the same time, I’ve been with this company for what feels like forever, so the thought of starting over and looking for a new job is a little overwhelming.

I’m curious if anyone else is feeling the same way and how you’re coping with it. Also, I haven’t received any VSP information other than confirmation that I applied. Has anyone received any updates they can share?

To everyone leaving with me on September 4, cheers! 🥂 And to those staying, best of luck!

Party over

You know how when a party is winding down and there are just a few stragglers left. That is how my team is starting to feel from almost 70 at one time to about 17 left after ISP and VSP. It's been a gradual decline with a large balloon at the end.

VSP end date

Someone posted awhile back that they did successfully get their end date changed. Yesterday it seems almost everyone I know that was attempting this, received the same statement from HR stating that their end date would not be changed "due to business needs" with no further explanation. Just curious if the person that posted they did get their end date changed actually did, and how they did this, what avenue they took. When I've asked about the business need (our team is slow and having to scramble daily to find work, so I'm not seeing this business need on our team when we are over staffed) but get a generic answer-and not really an answer at all. I love how the company continues to promote the culture of "transparency", "Mission Simplify", etc....

VSPers are NOT safe!

Those that took the VSP are not safe, I see the writing on the wall, micromanaging happening everywhere, managing people out! Get a lawyer to have in standby!
I can't believe how tight Centene is but then again I can believe it. $500+ million for AI cr-p! We won't see our VSP looks like.

Finally it's over.. My two cents

I applied for VSP and had an exit date of 12/2026. Started applying for jobs the day that I put in the application as I was seeing the writing on the wall of what was to come. Fortunately for me I had two interviews on Monday 08/10/2026, received offers from both companies just following the end of the interview. Made a decision in that moment they needed me to start on the 24th, but that after all the insanity at Centene that I needed a week to clear my head before I began my new adventure. They wouldn't give me two weeks notice if I was laid off tomorrow so there is no reason to believe that it is required in return. BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!
For those of you that are stilling fighting for members I see you and I know how hard you work. I want you to be aware of the shift that has been happening slowly for the last 2-3 months, around the time the VSP talk began. Supervisors are to drive number with no care for members or employees. They are to be sure that if there is any-way for an employee to be on coaching that they end up on it. They sit in meetings telling us that they know the workloads are unrealistic and at the same time really do not care or intend to change it. This is only going to get worse, as head count decreases and there are less staff to serve members, expectations will grow. I am fully convinced that the goal is to avoid payment of VSP to as many people as possible. If you remember the language in all the documentation - you must meet the expectation and metrics to be eligible for VSP benefits.
If you haven't already done so, dust off your resume. Begin applying and let your skills show you what doors are opening next. You are on a sinking ship, if you work in a member facing role you know this, member are frusterated by the limit to their benefits, inability to get needed care, reduction in services and doctors that are constantly walking away from their networks for one reason or another.
Either way three workdays since my separation I have never been happier and am for a change excited to begin work on Monday.

Are you planning to put in for the VSP?

Some people can’t deal with 2 years of uncertainty, and 4 months is a decent amount of time if you use it wisely.

No need to reveal your role or anything.

I’m not, but 2 on my team are and that’s going to be concerning for me if they get accepted, workload wise.

NJ

Do we know teams/depts that have been affected? As someone who wasn’t eligible for VSP and the reckoning fear of a layoff nearing. I am overwhelmed with the amount of work I am to inherit once my coworkers leave next month. -case management

Need Advice

I have made it through the VSP and involuntary separations. During the couple months of uncertainty I looked for another job. It’s not remote and would be working in a more stressful environment but one I’m used to as it’s what I did before. It is a little extra money about 12-20k more a year.
I was so stressed about potentially being laid off I went through with the interview process for the other job and was given an offer.
Now that I found out I’m safe from this I don’t know if I should take it. Part of me is saying yes take the offer because the layoffs could happen again soon. I guess just wondering what you all would do? I do love working from home though.

8/13 updates

Any new layoffs or news today? I feel so in the dark on whats going on as PLs are not discussing much. Our team was not impacted, but we have several who took VSP. We were also told that PHCO BH was safe for August. But I know that with so many other departments that WERE impacted, that is going to trickle down and affect us all. I keep waiting for that "transparency" that is preached about at every town hall.....

4900 Layoffs?

I know the rumor mill runs strong, especially since there is zero transparency. read a comment here that said 4900 layoffs were this week.

But if "4 out of 5 Centeamers who will be leaving are part of the VSP", is true - that means what, almost 25,000 overall reduction in headcount?

there's no way this is right. if so, GOOD LORD.

Crazy times

I find it so disturbing that there is NO communication going on about who has been let go, what the more global impact is going to be. The layoffs WILL affect every team at Centene in one way or another. My team had several take VSP but no lay offs (this time or so far)....they haven't even publicly said who on our team would be leaving by VSP. Absolutely zero communication from manager and above on any impact. I mean, we all know things will change across the board for folks still here....yet it feels so hush hush....meanwhile the VSP folks sit and wait until late next year to actually leave......assuming Centene is still around to pay folks out by then I guess......But lets keep preaching about that transparency......

VSP Unemployment YES for Texans

Those who are in Texas and took the VSP, you ARE eligible for unemployment! I already spoke to my lawyer and I have a friend who is in Texas that was able to take it.
It is a lump sum and not spread out so we ARE eligible. Just wait until you sign the agreement first though. My lawyer said even if you request unemployment and have not signed they will just possibly deny it but you can reapply.
Just check with the Unemployment commission and double check for yourself and it would not hurt to go ahead and have a lawyer on standby just in case you wind up needing one. With all this craziness going on you never know.

WTF Is Going On in Payment Integrity?!

Has anyone heard anything about possible job-title changes within Payment Integrity? I’ve heard there may be an effort to consolidate or standardize multiple roles under fewer job titles, which could potentially result in compensation adjustments, some employees may receive increases, while others could see reductions.
There also appear to be employees who accepted the VSP but are now choosing to leave before their assigned separation dates, even though leaving early may mean giving up their VSP payout. That raises additional concerns about morale and what may be happening behind the scenes.
Has anyone received more concrete information about the title changes, which positions may be affected, the anticipated timeline, or how current employees pay would be handled?

PP sighting off campus over weekend

I’m a former Jones associate who was laid off through a VSP. I was at West County Mall Saturday with a friend who also used to work for Jones, but left long before the current nonsense. After we parted ways, she stopped at Michael’s and ran into Penny, then shared it in our group chat.

My first thought? Damn, I wish I’d gone with her. I would’ve loved the opportunity to introduce myself as one of the many associates she helped send packing over the past few years. 😂 Especially since she seems to have perfected the art of disappearing into her “secret garden” on the 10th floor of the West Tower and rarely showing her face around campus.

Missed opportunity, I suppose. 😂

watching this go down while on vacation is truly something...

I knew this week was going to be layoff week, but to see this playing out is crazy.

I should not be on this forum while on vacation, however... it's like disaster p0rn, can't look away. I also want to try to prepare for whatever nonsense I'm going to log back in to.

I'm already out (took the VSP with a 9/4 separation date) but I just KNOW the next three weeks are going to be an absolute sh-tshow until I leave. the people who make the restructuring decisions typically don't understand any of the existing processes, which means a whole lot of unnecessary confusion for those who actually do the work.

they always preach, "it's business as usual, nothing is changing blah blah blah..." and none of this is business as usual. it hasn't been for almost two months now.

Anyone else feel this way?

I didn't take the VSP because I didn't have any other income or enough in my savings to last and that vsp money could only last so long. I didn't think I'd find a job by September as we all presumed initially everyone who took the vsp would be gone by then. The involuntary layoffs have already taken place on my team. I feel guilty that I dont feel more relieved than I thought I would. The environment has changed and it is not the same as it use to be. I am not optimistic at all about Centene's future. Not to mention that we will now be more overloaded with work than ever before for those left here. I naturally want to apply out but feel obligated to stay because that couldve been someone else's job. Anyone else relate?

VSP lies Big Bait and Switch

Centene corp pulled a bait and swith with those that applied and VSP accepted. Majority of separation dates are set for next year 2027. When applying separation date was set on or around September 1st. Now that we applied we cannot cancel and face possible lay off, leave on our own or worse fired without the enhanced benefits. Centene trying to save as much cash as possible. Any one else who applied feel the bait and switch??

PCC LINE OR CSA

If youre a customer service advocate or work the PCC line check in! Weve had no meetings, everyones still here on my team no updates no nothing but i see everyone else dropping like flies! Nearly everyone on my team was vsp eligible but me and one other person, but another supervisor told her team that enough people took the vsp that they didnt need to lay people off
