Cringeworthy postings on LinkedIn for store manager/RVP profiles

Cringeworthy LinkedIn profiles for regional vp’s.

Staged store photos of everyone holding bogus awards or giving the camera the number “one” sign. (((Cringe)))

Describing jobs and management positions as “amazing opportunities “. Using words like “golden store”. “Winning team”. It makes my skin crawl. (Cringe)

It’s so misleading it’s actually very sad

Yet some poor soul will believe this and apply for one of these jobs

JBS USA is preparing to cut about 2,000 jobs. The company will close two beef processing facilities. Pilgrim's Pride, a JBS subsidiary, is also shifting chicken production. Grocery stores

How bad does it stink to service the big chains now? It’s easier to create a local Jam or honey and sell it into a Walmart locally than it is to sell for a cpg company right now. My neighbor got her honey into Walmart (9 stores) and is making more than our TSLs from that alone. These jobs are really bad right now.

ServiceNow Cuts Jobs Despite CEO's Prior Promise

Software company ServiceNow announced layoffs affecting 63 workers in its San Diego office. This action contradicts CEO Bill McDermott's earlier pledge to maintain a steady headcount. Dozens more employees across California were also impacted. Many affected roles are senior positions in sales and consulting. The company reported strong revenue and profit in the first quarter. Investors, however, expressed dissatisfaction with AI growth projections.

Help

Applied for a new position at another bank. I’ve made it through 4 interviews and waiting for a response. The weird part is they reposted the position online a couple of hours before I completed the 4th interview. I would think I would have received a decline before the reposted the position but I had not even completed the last interview yet. Is it a bad sign??? Has this happened to anyone?

Know your worth to employers

Some employees should carefully review their job descriptions and pay scales using Salary.com, as they may be surprised when leaving their current roles to pursue positions at the local university or state government and receiving reduced compensation for identical duties.

Plan for your financial future and save up those six months of living expenses. Storms are coming your way and ITs not pretty.

Is PIP a “Low-Fire” Tool in Today’s Job Market?

With all the discussion lately about the “low-hire, low-fire” labor market, I’m curious whether PIPs are effectively being used as a low-fire tool at Exxon.

Hypothetical example:

John Smith is in his mid-30s, has been with the company 5+ years, has consistently been above NI throughout his career (not OWD, but not NI either).

A few questions for those familiar with how things work in practice:

  • What are his chances of making it to retirement age (say, 55+) if he continues performing at roughly the same level?
  • If he ends up on a PIP, is a single PIP typically enough to result in termination, or are there usually multiple opportunities to improve?
  • If someone successfully completes a first PIP, what happens if they are placed on a second PIP later in their career? Is termination effectively inevitable at that point, or can people recover and continue progressing?

Not asking about any specific individual—just trying to better understand how the process works in reality versus on paper.

Remote workers

There will be announcements made early 2027 that you will either work in a Truist office or you will be out of a job. They will be calling people individually next year, giving the ultimatum, either move to one of the locations, come into the office daily, or you will be let go.

Employment up, yet companies keep cutting

Major U.S. employers issued the fewest layoff announcements in May. USA TODAY tracked 250 mass layoff notices affecting 32,000 workers. Spirit Airlines accounted for nearly 7,000 of these job cuts. The airline announced a shutdown and ceased all flight operations. This occurred despite U.S. employers adding 172,000 jobs in May.

Retail IT

I’m hoping for some honest feedback. I recently applied for a role in the Retail IT department at Walgreens, but I walked away with a really bad feeling about the hiring director and the overall environment. I’m wondering if pursuing this opportunity might be a mistake.

Prescreening for jobs

When did CVS start using HireVue for prescreening?
For anyone lucky enough not to know, it’s where you record yourself answering interview questions while an AI quietly judges you. Essentially a corporate Tinder.
This is a director level posting, not a role getting hundreds of entry-level applicants. I’ve been here over 20 years, and I only apply to things I actually care about—not panic-clicking “apply” at midnight. My skills were a great match for the role. I’m also not eager to risk awkwardness with my current manager just to get rejected because I didn’t maintain “optimal eye contact with my webcam.” Its a lateral move so I really need a two-way conversation with HR first to assess compatibility.
I was told it’s mandatory, so I withdrew.
Am I overreacting? Is this just the times? I get it AI is everything now but I feel certain circumstances should not be using this route to weed out candidates. Id love to hear from those who think this is a great idea because I must be missing something and some day I may very well HAVE to use it..

US Job Market Improves: Openings Up, Layoffs Down

US job vacancies showed a notable increase in April. The number of available roles climbed to 7.62 million. Job separations decreased to 1.69 million. This suggests a robust labor market. A single sector, professional services, drove most of this rise.

D&S sc--wed me

D&S totally sc--wed me. Spent months telling me they had. A job lined up and then at the last minute changed the job to something totally different that we hadn’t even been talking about. My new job is a job I do not enjoy. There were several better jobs that I had support for but was not considered for because of the job they claimed was lined up. The best one a good friend of my D&S contact somehow ended up getting. Thanks for nothing D&S.

Is your Manager notified if you apply for another internal job in workday?

I'm considering applying for another internal job but not sure if I will get an interview. I want to ensure I get an interview before letting my boss know that I applied for a job.

Does anyone know if workday notifies your manager as soon as you apply for another job?
