VSPErs- Monitor your junk mail!

Received an email from the out placement company about optional information sessions. It came from “Agreements” with subject “LHH Overview Session.” A very unassuming email, but has me extra vigilant now in monitoring my junk folder as I get closer to my separation date!

No future if you are not Outstanding or Excellent and no sponsor

If you are not outstanding or excellent then did you know you are not considered regretted attrition when you quit? They do not care about or invest in anyone who is not sponsored. If you are outstanding or excellent now and have no sponsor just know it will not last. Also what happens when your sponsor leaves? Look around and learn. There is no future here. It is not a meritocracy.

Anyone else quitting?

Mauoervisor seemed shocked when they dropped my ranking that I told them I would be quitting. They said but you are not NSI and Good is really a good outcome in such a competitive rank group. Why would I stay around when I no longer receive any RSUs and am over my salary curve?

WILI Radio Cuts Longtime Personalities

Willimantic's WILI radio station has laid off several long-serving radio personalities. The cuts were made by the station's owner, Hall Broadcasting, after a review of operations. Some affected employees had been with the company for decades. The station stated the decision was difficult and impacted two positions. This news has been met with sadness by the local community.

Two-weeks notice

I just accepted a new role that starts on 08/24. If Verizon walks me out the day I resign (Monday), that actually works perfectly for my timeline. But if I give notice (I don't want to burn any bridges) and they keep me the full two weeks, I'll need to negotiate my start date, which is far from ideal since they specified how much they need to fill that role ASAP. What's been everyone else's experience lately? Do they keep you or let you go immediately?

Writing is on the wall

Folks between stock price falling, security officers being hired on, still lack of investment into our people and buildings. It's only matter of time. AI is around the corner, the clock is ticking. Every department is leveraging Copilot more and more, external contractors are hired to leverage AI. It was fun while it lasted.

Wichita Schools Cut Staff to Balance Budget

Wichita Public Schools has laid off 16 employees as part of a plan to address a significant budget shortfall. These administrative staff reductions are intended to save $4.6 million. This move is the fourth phase of a broader expense-cutting initiative. The district aims to reduce overall expenses by $42 million. Affected employees are eligible to apply for other open positions within the district.

Why are you still at Citrix?

The acquired company doesn't care about the employees or the customer, so why are you still there. The only Citrix thing about Citrix now is the name. It is nowhere near the great company it was while it was Mark Templeton was there. Ever since the acquisition, it has not only gone down in value, but also in the human culture it had.

Resign. Spend time with your friends and family. Travel. Be a good person to yourself. They will never treat you like anything other than the number. The layoff after the acquisition was the best thing that ever happened to me. Live long and happy, my friend. I don't always drink beer, but when I do, it is the flavor-of-like I drink.

Howard Stern Show Faces Criticism Over Dress Code

The Howard Stern Show has reportedly implemented a dress code that prohibits female employees from wearing sneakers, while male staff face no such restriction. This policy has led to accusations of s-xism and has reportedly caused female employees to hide alternative footwear at work. Insiders claim the rule has persisted despite changing workplace norms and a general shift towards more casual attire. The show has also faced scrutiny for other strict rules, including a ban on staff speaking directly to Howard Stern at parties.

Help Desk Wake up

What do these people do all day? Honestly they never get back to tickets. It’s like pulling teeth for simple requests. Why are they outsourced to “Beacon Hills Staffing”? This company wastes so much money. Go back to the 90s when we had actual employees in the building handling requests in a timely fashion.

Optum Care at Home Care Navigators

Curious on the potential of layoff / any insight. I work for the Optum Care at Home - Care Navigator role. DSNP plan.

A lot of people quit this role and they are not re hiring - but have brought on plenty of Philippines staff.

I have always felt the role won’t stay on shore but im curious of any word or input

Do you think there are stores even indirects didn't want?

I'm at the slowest store in a district by a long ways. They transitioned a store that is a fair amount busier then us. We went from 7 reps down to 5 before the big layoff. Now we are losing another rep to a different store. I have not heard if they are replacing that position. But you can not run on 4 reps. Any chance they just flat out close us because we are slow enough even indirects didn't want us? Has anybody seen that play out?

The people down there - yeah that’s you.

I work as a nobody sitting on the SLT floor everyday. They don’t even like using your bathrooms and call people that don’t work on the SLT floor “the people down there”. Do you think they care about anything you write here? They are too busy group texting each other d-mb selfies from sports game suites.

Choosing America means Offshoring Jobs for Jane

The US brings billions in investments and how they thank the American employees by laying them off and offshoring those exact same jobs overseas and it is continuing. This is the biggest hypocrisy of the article published. Are investments coming in from Costa Rica, India and Manila? How are they giving back to America?

Literally crying at my desk this morning...

This place, it's stress, having been on so many teams, underpaid for years & realizing my loyalty means nothing, my never make mistakes in the work means nothing. I'm a 43yo man literally at his desk in tears because I can't make ends meet.

I got a notice about student loan repayments - mine will go from previously $50/mo to $850/mo after the SAVE fiasco. I will no longer have money for food, if I pay all my other bills & rent. Forget ever buying a home, just at the cusp of being really able to save in life, now this. This place has fu---d me over financially for YEARS & I've been unable to get out from under it.

No kids, never arrested, no points on my license, excellent credit, did all the right things in life, no illicit substance use, almost never drink, only for this company to underpay, overwork, & sc--w me simply because our Indian CEO can and will ship my job abroad for a third of the cost. This arbitrage isn't what I signed-up for, I signed-up for a fair progressive career.

So here I am, crying at my desk at Hopkins, can't take a sick day because Qasim is a sociopath & I'm on 'a list' of people who use ssl (what the actual fu-k, it's disgusting). Come find me, maybe help push me off the 3rd floor parking deck later, I'm not that heavy.

You read that right. This place is the root of all of my life problems. I'm a loser & deserve what's coming.

Retention bonuses

This post on Reddit has a comment that someone’s husband was offered 100k counteroffer retention bonus when he tried to resign. Base pay 600k.
https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedhealthgroup/s/PfEIguU2fk

So the company that is laying people off throughout the year and gives pennies for raises to most of its employees will give a 100k retention bonus to what is probably a lower level exec who tries to resign (assuming lower level because the higher up execs make 7-10 figures.)

Message for UHG/UHC/Optum…. Your executives are not the face of the company, the people whose jobs bring them into direct daily interactions with your members are the face of the company. Minuscule raises that can’t even keep up with inflation, elimination of bonuses, rising caseloads all lower morale. You can’t improve your public image when the face of your company has low morale. No amount of company culture pep talk will fix this because your own employees don’t feel valued.

The Mythical Golden Age of VZW

I keep reading these posts about Verizon having once been a utopian workplace and a pure meritocracy. I joined in 2010 and it was anything but. It was more profitable and had a better network than its competitors but it was no meritocracy. There were lots of incompetent "leaders" and DEI had nothing to do with it because they were not minorities. It was also very cliquey.

So when was this mythical golden age that I missed out on?

Don't try to improve things

I've seen good people try to make things better repeatedly. They proposed ideas, challenged bad processes, and tried to push change, and all they got for that was being put on the next layoff list. The only way to survive this place is to keep your head down and do what you're told. The new Dell way.

PLs- VSP/RIFs can we all agree that most PLs are just there to look pretty and credit off their team’s work

My dept is losing high quality high performing employees. In my personal experience, my PL is an airhead that has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Has earned his title by faking it up the corporate ladder and with our losses they are not capable of picking up the extra work around. Is Centene reviewing the anon employee surveys. This would shed light on a trend that PLs are aweful when it comes to helping us get our work done. I wish these people would be let go of first. Thoughts? State your dept/state

Stop letting this company steal your peace

Stop sitting around and letting a company steal your peace.

Update your résumé. Network. Start looking. Don’t wait for a company to value you when their actions show they don’t.

I recently resigned from UHC after nearly 30 years. After decades of dedication, there was no “thank you” or “job well done”—just “go ahead and sign out; we’ll pay you for your two weeks.”

I found a fully remote job making more money than I was after nearly 30 years. That taught me something: your job is not your life, and your employer does not own your peace.

If you’re miserable, stressed, or sacrificing your health for a company that doesn’t appreciate you, start making your exit plan.

Stop being their puppet on a string. Take control of your life back. Your peace, health, and happiness are worth more

Az Complete Health

Arizona employees — we see what’s happening.

Arizonans, we want to hear from you.

Leadership keeps telling us they “don’t know” what’s happening, but then how do they explain all the background changes?

You don’t make major structural changes unless you’re preparing for something.

And it’s starting to feel like leadership genuinely believes employees are too stupid to notice.

I'm Out

Finally and officially. After all these years of dedicated work, I leave with no recognition, no empathy, no real thank you, and not even an opportunity to say goodbye to my team or colleagues or people I knew. Just a simple, “We'll contact you with instructions to return your equipment” and a forced “thank you for your time with the company.” No goodbye. No ceremony. No acknowledgment of working ten years. Just a "log off and be done." WOW. I never imagined I'd be treated as insignificant as I was by management after giving so many years to this company. It honestly feels like they had been waiting for this moment and wanted me gone long ago. But you know what? I'm finally out. And that's what matters now. Overall the company has become more toxic and unpredictable. In retrospect, I'm glad I'm finally gone.
