Nike Free Cash Flow Problem?! Does this explain the office closures and CFO exit?

Nike ’s Free Cash Flow: A Key Warning Sign for Investors

Free Cash Flow (FCF) is one of the most important metrics I look at when analyzing a company because it shows how much cash remains after the business funds its capital expenditures.
For Nike, the recent trend deserves attention:

📊 Free Cash Flow
2023: $4.87B
2024: $6.62B
2025: $3.27B
2026: $2.18B

The numbers tell an important story.
Nike reached a strong $6.62 billion in FCF in 2024, but since then, FCF has fallen sharply to $2.18 billion in 2026.

That represents a decline of approximately 67% from the 2024 peak.
The key question for investors is not simply whether Nike still generates positive FCF, it does.

The more important question is:
Why is Nike generating significantly less cash from its operations?

Because capital expenditures have remained relatively controlled, the deterioration in FCF appears to be driven primarily by the decline in Operating Cash Flow.

This is something I would investigate further through:

  • Revenue growth
  • Operating margins
  • Inventory levels
  • Accounts receivable
  • Working capital
  • Debt
  • Earnings quality
  • Cash conversion
A company can remain profitable while its cash generation deteriorates. That is why Free Cash Flow is such an important part of fundamental analysis.
For investors, the next step is understanding whether this decline is temporary or structural.
That distinction can significantly change the investment thesis.

Love Island

I recently watched a Verizon commercial featuring Trinity Tatum, the winner of the recent season of Love Island. It’s quite surprising how companies like Verizon are laying off people left and right to create commercials with reality TV stars. This highlights the company’s priorities and values.

AI bubble about to burst- BNY losing interest?

We have all noticed, including people in neighboring departments, that all the fire and fury about AI back in the Spring has disappeared. Also, many national articles about AI buyer’s remorse and people who were laid off being rehired; many errors with AI; AI not reaping any real benefits. Also- I have heard that part 3 of that AI test has been moved back to next year (the one where they want a 6-page thing). AI=dot com bo-m and bust?

He-l on Earth

He-l would be better than working for this boomer dinosaur company compromised by contractor corruption and Israel.

Come in the office 5 days a week to talk to Indians on teams, so Stankey makes more money when . Soul su-king.

Drained but need to move on

The last month or two my motivation has been on the floor — and I can see the same in every single department here in Ireland.

The uncertainty is harder to deal with than the news itself would be. Just tell us.

I'm hoping PayPal will have the decency to inform staff this month and not keep this soap opera going any longer. If we have no update by the end of the month, I'm going to make the conscious decision to just get on with things — otherwise my mental health will be on the floor.

Two Camps

It gets really exhausting to feel the need to post in reply to je-ky type people on here.

I think there are basically two camps of people, those who have lesser positions of control and know just how lousy this company and the leadership is.

Then, you have those delusional folks who because they were graced with being put in some relative position of power make the incorrect assumption that they will never find themselves in the first camp so they defend the company absurdly thinking that their loyalty will always protect them.

Well, news flash to the second delusional camp, you mean very little to the company as well and will some day be thrown away like a dirty used kleenex.

CDW Layoffs

CDW and McKinsey & Company have both faced scrutiny regarding their DEI practices (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and ESG frameworks (Environmental, Social, and Governance), many referring to these programs as "woke," while company leadership defends them as sound strategies. Who is paying the price for these programs?

Now this is ancient history but PK wanted to set up NIKE for for eternity

by going direct and dump all the distribution channel who were loyal to them for long time.
And found best possible human being in this world to run company, JD.
The guy has no soul, no imagination, no leadership, no personality and bona fide total a@@hole.
To make long story short, sh-t did not turn out they way PK imagined to say the list.
And not sure if company will be full before he is no longer in this world.

With EH's performance until now, I don't think anything good will come out under him.

Let me just say that EH makes JD look pretty good. LOL

CFO ????

The F*** CFO is now holding 20K shares in this company, that is $3M. He has no skin in the game anymore and he does not care. His insider trading pattern shows that he has no confidence in the business. For a company of that size and this behavior of CFO, he has to be immediately replaced.
Typically CFOs hold millions or hundreds of millions in their companies stock.
He is a mo--n that ran the company downhill with teh CEO. Fire both !
