Where to go?

I've been scanning other banks on this site, and it's discouraging. Everyone seems to be dealing with the same issues, from layoffs, to toxicity, to bad leadership. I want out, but I don't want to jump from one dumpster fire to another. Is there actually a better alternative out there, or is this just what the industry has become?

The more I think about layoffs, the less they make sense

Managers know who's dependable, who consistently delivers, and who the team relies on. Yet some of the people who get let go are exactly those employees. It makes me wonder whether the decisions are made by people looking at spreadsheets instead of the actual work.

Watching the slow death

There's a certain sadness in watching a company that once meant something turn into a shell of itself. All the potential, all the bright ideas, all the people who cared...it's all being wasted. Every reorg, every layoff, every bad decision chips away at whatever is left. I find myself mourning the place it used to be, even as I sit here watching it disappear.

Stores absorbing quota from divested stores

So they divest stores then shift the quota to remaining locations. Not only do you have to combat lower team morale due to mass layoffs, you now how to close the amount of sales for more than one location and take a pay cut in commission. It’s not like these locations are closing down. Most customers probably won’t even know the difference and will continue to shop there

Who's getting the boot?

So, what do you all think are the changes that are going to hit now that Jack Attack has 3 months and 24 days under his expansive belt?

Kane out <-- Too old, not bringing in the razzle-dazzle anymore
Brenda out <-- Mid market wh-z-bang not growing fast enough to hype hype hype
CTO Hughes out <-- not technical at all and an certifiable a--hole

Anyone else have any-other predictions on this disastrous team TEAM dream team? Who's next on the package and gag-order list?

After sitting in a few of the technical board review meetings, I can say this, totally unimpressed with the quality and caliber of these teammates. My dog can recite the buzzwords better and actually understand what he's barking about more intelligently, really.

Can people stop inventing numbers?

Is your goal to make people panic? You don't know what's coming. Unless you're part of the C-suite, you have no idea how many people will be laid off and when. This is all a guessing game, and stating it as fact can only serve to further erode people's mental health through unnecessary stress. Just stop it.

Your thoughts on VSP

Someone posted that they thought VSP was an epic failure but didn't explain why. What are your thoughts? Whether you took it or were left to deal with the fallout. For the eligible, how has your life changed after taking it? If you were eligible and did not accept it, any regrets?

Jaguar Land Rover Slashes Hundreds of Jobs

Jaguar Land Rover is implementing a voluntary exit and redeployment program affecting fewer than 300 salaried and management employees. This move is part of a broader business transformation aimed at improving decision-making and performance. The restructuring follows a significant cyberattack in 2025 that disrupted production and incurred substantial financial losses. Affected employees will be offered support in finding alternative roles or voluntary early exit options. Production line staff are not expected to be impacted by these changes.

Telecom Companies Trim Staff

Major telecommunications companies are implementing significant workforce reductions as a primary cost-cutting strategy. AT&T, Verizon, and O2 Germany have all announced substantial job cuts in the first half of 2026. Nokia is also continuing a large-scale reduction program aimed at substantial annual savings. While these cuts can improve short-term margins, they often fail to address underlying revenue generation issues. The article suggests that true transformation requires redeploying capital into new growth areas, not just reducing expenses.

Every Friday Morning I expect to be let go.

That seems to be the modus operandi with Dell now. Show up Friday morning only to be told that today is your last with the company after decades employed with the company.

Why can't they let long term employees know they'll be laid off ? Especially employees at or near retirement age. So I treat every Friday as if it's my last. But it sure is tempting to simply leave now.

The only reason for my staying is for the cheaper cost of health insurance, which I'm still carrying our older kids on, and a better retirement lifestyle. But yeah, I treat every Friday expecting it to be my last.

Cross team pollination, teams owning multiple areas, build across teams.

What on earth is going on with this new thought that everyone has to now partner with everyone else, partner with colleagues, their own team members, partner across teams, own areas and partner with similar areas across multiple teams and think about partnering with a view across teams we don’t usually work directly with across Cisco . It was hard enough having a few focus areas but this sounds like a a complete nightmare to manage and I fear it’s going to be hard on already strapped employees after all the recent. LRs!
