Can we focus on SAP and layoffs, please?

There are so many trolls trying to distract from the really important discussions around (potential or real) layoffs and how to cope. Please stop this. The important discussions are drowned out.

Two kinds of distractions are especially not needed: fake Indians (used to discredit Indians instead of focusing on the real opponents: the board and upper management), and na-i postings (often referring to the AfD, which is a really despicable lot of people no decent person would ever want to have contact with).

Stop this trolling. Do not drown the important discussions with this drivel.

Thanks.

Integrated Services

A whole bunch of people in Integrated Services are being asked to interview for jobs. The implication being, if you don't find a job you are no longer employed.

You can argue about the value of Integrated Services, but this is a cr-ppy way to treat people. It is sad that the company is starting to use these tactics.

This is what happens when consultants with very little real people leadership experience get to run the show.

Mass layoffs are long overdue

I know people don't want to hear that but it's true. Hear it out.

BAIN is running the company now. That's why there is such a stark deviation from the way Dell has always operated in the past. Bain & Company is one of the top global Management Business Consulting firms - emphasis on the term "Business Management" since Dell has exercised very little of that discipline up until now.

Rest assured BAIN is going over the portfolio with a fine-toothed comb. They are looking at delayed and failed projects. They are looking at the number of employees per project. They are looking at burn rates. They are looking at abysmal productivity ratios. They are looking at fixed, variable, and sunk costs associated with underwater ROI for numerous projects that have failed year in and year out.

The truth is Dell operated with little to zero accountability in the past. Now there is accountability and people are surprised?? It should be the other way around. We should all be surprised it took MD this long to clean up the fat, the bloat, the waste, the inneficiencies, the lack of execution, the lack of accountability. And whether you want to believe it or not, he's cleaning it up to get the company ready for sale before he retires.

Granted, Wall Street loves these types of moves because layoffs in particular artificially prop up EPS on the income statement. Investors love that. However, when there's no one else to lay off, and productivity is still floating around 3%, Dell is dead in the water. That's a fact! That's why MD is trying to sell pieces/parts before it caves in on itself. Dell has run its course.

BAIN Is calling the shots now people. Get used to it. The more layoffs we have, the more you can assume long overdue waste and bloat are being discovered in the numbers.

Small Business Banking

What is going on with Small Business Banking? The company has laid off a number of branch based Small Business Specialists and have begun hiring phone based Small Business Specialists along with more branch branch Small Business Specialists?

NatGen Engineers

Is the plan to actually integrate/onboard them or replace them with H1-B hires in India, once their systems have been brought over?

There doesn’t seem to be any plan, from what I can tell. Seems like they are trying to figure out what to do with the NatGen folks. Or maybe they aren’t in the plans for the future, and that’s the reason.

Morgan Stanley Consolidates Wealth Units, Cuts Staff

Morgan Stanley has merged its Field Risk and Service units within its wealth management division. This consolidation aims to streamline operations and improve collaboration among staff supporting financial advisors. While the total number of affected employees is unspecified, some regions saw a significant portion of these operational roles eliminated. BP Streamlines Operations with Job Cuts

BP is planning to eliminate approximately 700 non-frontline positions as part of a strategic restructuring. This move aims to simplify operations, reduce costs, and enhance profitability. The majority of these affected roles are office-based or support functions, not those directly involved in production. This workforce reduction aligns with BP's renewed focus on its core oil and gas business. The company is prioritizing efficiency and financial performance in its ongoing turnaround strategy.

Rogers Media Cuts Staff Amidst Corporate Realignment

Rogers Sports & Media recently laid off 230 news media workers across six radio stations nationwide. This action followed the company's significant investment in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Union representatives criticized these decisions as prioritizing corporate interests over employee welfare. Negotiations for collective agreements had been protracted, with allegations of stalling tactics by the company. The layoffs highlight concerns about the future of local news coverage in Canada.

Rosenberg Considers Cuts Amid Deficit

Rosenberg city leaders are contemplating service reductions and potential layoffs to address a significant budget shortfall. The city faces a $2.3 million deficit, prompting discussions about raising property taxes for the first time in nearly a decade. Mayor William Benton has expressed opposition to any tax increases. A proposed budget is expected by Friday, with a tax rate increase vote scheduled for August and the final budget vote in September.

Employers Rethink AI-Driven Job Cuts

Many companies are regretting recent layoffs that were attributed to artificial intelligence. Studies indicate that automation has not fully replaced human expertise in critical areas. As a result, a significant percentage of employers who reduced staff due to AI are now considering rehiring. This trend highlights a recalibration of workforce strategies, balancing technological adoption with essential human skills. The findings suggest a growing realization that AI's impact on job displacement may be less than initially anticipated.

American tax $ goes in = American jobs go out

How does it make sense that private companies receive billions in American taxpayer dollars to run government funded programs (like Medicare and Medicaid), but are then allowed to lay off American workers and offshore those exact jobs overseas?

  1. How does this build our economy?
When public funds pay for these contracts, shouldn't a primary goal be keeping those tax dollars circulating within the U.S. economy? Offshoring eliminates middle-class administrative jobs, taking wage tax revenues and local spending power completely out of our communities.

  2. How does this benefit the average citizen?
The standard corporate argument is "cost savings," but rarely do those savings translate into lower healthcare costs or better services for the public. Instead, taxpayers fund the contracts, domestic workers lose their livelihoods, and profits go to corporate margins. (Sarah)

  3. Why are foreign entities allowed to manage our sensitive data?
This is the most concerning part. Millions of members' Social Security numbers, home addresses, financial details, and medical/disability records are being accessed, processed, and stored in databases overseas. Even with Business Associate Agreements and basic CMS/HIPAA compliance, sending sensitive American data outside U.S. legal jurisdiction creates obvious security and privacy risks? Were we not just trying to ban TikTok for data reasons but sending our most private information is okay to send overseas?

Most of these are rhetorical as I know the main answer is that this is for millionaires/billionaires to gain more money and that they don’t actually care about the American people.

And Sarah if you’re wanting to reinvest into the company, why don’t you use some of your massive salary?

Past and Future Innovation - Chasing the Fad - A dying company.

So, on to the next bandwagon Jim is jumping on: automation, and hard. AI is suddenly the solution to all our problems. Outsourcing is great, but in 5 years when 85% of white-collar jobs are in India and the remaining 14% are on H1B visas here in America, who is going to replace them?

I wouldn't be too worried; these things go in cycles, and Jim has to look busy and visionary for his boss. What just amazes me is how they haven't caught on that the company's real profit-makers weren't even conceived by him. Zero ideas hatched by him and his team have actually done anything positive.

I'd be a little more concerned with the executive team, their friends and new hires. A criminal has managed training in both Marketing and now oversees Finance training. Look it up—she's been convicted of defrauding companies. But hey, she may be sadistic to employees, but she's a friend of the new CFO, you know, from that tiny car company (or was it a software company? Not sure Lucid even knows...).

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2005/jul/14/advertising1

This company has gone in a very weird direction. We have LL2s with no common sense or understanding of what manufacturing actually looks like, and C-Suite individuals with zero understanding of manufacturing, coming from companies that weren't even best-in-class for their own areas.

DEI was fun while it lasted. Interestingly, a significant portion of the current LL3 and LL4 leadership secured their positions through this initiative. Now, some appear to be distancing themselves from their past involvement, as it has become evident that a few individuals actually we-ponized their influence against others.

Ford — Start treating your people with dignity and respect. Use some common sense, like your parents did, and you might eke out survival. Quit playing politics (you're all terrible at it), or hire some political consultants to help you clean up your act. Fire the incompetent, fire the criminals, and fire the ones that don't embody good, old-fashioned family values and morals. At least show the public you've turned your act around to save yourself a shred of dignity in the community.
